IVAN GIVES UP?! Land Rover Intermittent No-Crank (Conclusion)

IVAN GIVES UP?! Land Rover Intermittent No-Crank (Conclusion)

I’m afraid we reached the end of the rope with this now PERMANENTLY beached whale Land Rover.
It hasn’t cranked in days, and the TCU seems to be completely DEAD!

No other options…it has to go back to the Land Rover Dealer, which is 2 hours from here!

Will this Fancy Euro ever run again?

LAND ROVER you are a bunch off arseholes worldwide. These things were great in the 80's, we used them in the South African army. How did manage to f…. up this iconic brand so badly. IDIOTS. No matter where i go these things are ither on a flatbed or being towed by a Toyota bakkie. No i do not own a toyota bakkie

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lvpspa2x2jM Imagine my surprise to see a Lexus with a backup battery in its TCU, too! Really makes me wonder, what does it actually do? Just supply short-term backup power to call emergency services in case of an accident or something?

2015 Range Rover Evoque. Had problems with no start due to electronic parking brake issue. I tried everything on the internet and YouTube. Long story short is I replace the battery with a new one and still didnā€™t work. I tried flashing the electrical system and that didnā€™t work. I remembered that the aux battery was still connected to the car and grounding the system wouldnā€™t work. So I disconnected both and grounded the system and that fixed all of the electrical issues. It reset all of the modules and no more problems. Epb worked and car started. Iā€™d bet that the modules didnā€™t need replacing just resetting. Thatā€™s what I try every time thereā€™s an electoral issue now. Disconnect both batteries and reset. It works.

Jeff Herman says:

Did anyone try blowing on it?

I have a p38 Land Rover Range Rover that has had numerous electrical issues. Fortunately, I have experience with electronics, and know how to troubleshoot. In one instance, I found the the control board in my BECM had shorted traces to some of the internal relays which was causing, among other things, my sunroof to be non-responsive and not close. I don't know if that BECM is constructed in the same manner but mine has a control board and a logic board within the same unit. I found another p38 in my local junkyard, extracted the control board, and swapped it into my vehicle. Issues adverted; for now!!! IMO, the seals in my BECM may have failed, especially in the climate of PA, which allowed corrosion to persist and affect the board mounted components, or the sunroof motor caused an overcurrent issue and burned the traces. That shouldn't happen because the fuses should have popped before the traces burned up but…..go figure!! In advise to others with similar issues with these vehicles, Id find a similar vehicle in a junkyard and swap control boards or whatever controls the malfunctioning component. That wouldn't require a reprogramming of the unit. Which can be ridiculously expensive!! I also get the factory workshop manual for every vehicle I own as well as join the vehicle forum immediately!! An ounce of prevention….!!
