Those plastic rings screw off. A long punch and a mallet (counter clockwise).
There’s no real reason to take them off. I always set the seal inside the plastic ring first then install the filter.

Thank You, this video confirmed my thoughts of the spring loaded placements. 96k miles on mine and it went out today, possibly burnt out from running it on fumes on the way back to L.A. off the grapevine "no gas stations for miles" I'm actually looking forward to digging in on this project. Cheers.

Question does the A-Premium Fuel Pump and filter did you have to do anything to make the fuel gage work?
I took mine to a local mechanic and they told me after the fuel pump was replaced that the dealership would need to "re-flash" to reset the codes and that only the dealer could do that. I'm not very familiar with that process, is that something you had to do on yours? Or was there a way for you to get around that and do it on your own?
My 2008 RRSC 4.2 has an engine light on and also it says gas cap loose or missing. Do I have to replace everything that you did in this video ? To fix the problem?
Thanks for the video! Mine went out at 166K in my 2008 Range Rover. I had just filled up the tank….SMH I was also 120 miles away from a major city (in my small hometown for the 4th) and had to get it towed!
