Harbor Freight Hidden Winch on the Land Rover!

Harbor Freight Hidden Winch on the Land Rover!

Rover shirts and hats available at www.TheLostCauseRanch.com

Today we get into adding some recovery capability to the Budget Overland LR4. Together with a Harbor Freight winch plate we do a little fabrication to install our X-Bull Winch. A very budget friendly setup at the cost of just a Terrafrima winch plate for the whole setup including the winch itself.

Where in Iowa are you located?

Rene Guzman says:

Great video man! I'm going to try and do the same set up on my 08 LR3. Thanks, this is awesome!

I love the zonkey humor and the fact that it masks a skilled, competent craftsman. I see a younger me in you but I had less direction or might I say my direction was old equipment not Rovers. Like you I am a jack of all trades master of none kinda guy and that has served me well being a road composite, then working CMO, mechanic for the railroad.
The technical abilities that you have are somewhat lost on some of the audience of youtubeville but they are there and shine to the ones that know and understand, as the beautiful bacon frying sound testifies… ๐Ÿ™‚
Again thank you for the ride along and my vicariously living shop life again through you videos sir.

Need measurements please on winch plate

Lance Renfrow says:

Do you think this would work on the LR3? I know the bumpers are a little different between them. I just wasn't sure if behind the bumper was that different between the LR3 and LR4.

Rob Peabo says:

Nice install. It certainly will suit jurisdictions that don't permit Bull-Bars ( don't know why Americans call Bull-Bars "bumpers", that is what factory units are called). Mt personal preference is to have a Bull-Bar, I like my ARB Winch Bar. All steel goodness!! I bought mine second hand, it had the factory fog lights and headlight washers installed. The only extra I installed was the winch.

I really would like rock sliders – It would be great to see how you make them & install them. I suspect what you build for an LR4 would fit perfectly on an LR3??

What do you mean poor timing chain?

Hammy H says:

LR Time on here sells the program to get your own winch mount laser cut for a hidden winch on the Disco.
They have a great video for it.

Walter Hicks says:

Any ideas for other mounting points for the controller? Prefer to minimize impediments on the radiator. Nice mod.

SP K says:

aesthetically looks good like all Range Rovers, durability of this mount is to the drain well like all Rage Rovers ๐Ÿ˜‰

Iowa LR4 says:

Nice work! I have my stock fuji white LR4 front and rear bumpers in my garage if you ever need one. I don't think I would ever need them now that I have my Tactical 4×4 rear and ARB Summit up front.
