Hi Folks Ben Woodgate from APT. Did you know that in less than 20 minutes you can have your Defender Puma fuel cooler protected? The APT Defender Puma Fuel Cooler Guard provides you with the rugged protection that is required. The design still allows the maximum volume of air to rush over the cooler so it can still do its job. As with all APT made products, premium quality fixings are provided so all you need are a couple of basic hand tools and you can get started. What do you get? You get: 2.5mm 250 grade xler plate steel cage to encapsulate the fuel cooler, 2.5mm 250 grade xler plate cage door to add strength and allow easy access; 12.9 high tensile button head bolts and washers for mounting the cage door to the frame. The APT Defender Fuel Cooler Guard uses existing factory mounting points so no modifications are required. To get started we will locate the fuel cooler inside the left side chassis rail up near the gear box here. At this point we can remove the cage door with the use of a 5mm allen key in preparation for fitting. Now we turn out attention to the fuel cooler. With an 8mm socket we need to remove the two mounting bolts. With the mounting bolts removed we can gently pull the fuel cooler out and manoeuvre the cage into place. We should now have something that looks like this. Now that all the “hard” work has been done we can start putting all the bolts back in. We will start by bolting the fuel cooler and APT Defender Puma Fuel Cooler cage back in. We can nip these bolts back in fully now. We don’t need to start the other bolt first. Just be careful to not overtighten anything so that we don’t strip any threads. Now it is time to throw the cage door on. Get all three bolts started first. Then with a 5mm allen key we will tighten them right up. Then that is it. Puma fuel cooler protection done in an easy driveway install at home.
