what I used to make the basic top and frame:
1-10′ piece of thin wall 1″ square tube (main support posts)
1-4′ piece of 3/8″ square tube (inner support posts)
2-10′ pieces of 1″ C channel (curved sections of the hoops-roof line)
2- 10′ pieces of 1/8″ thick 1″ wide flat steel (goes along hoops covering the oak boards)
6- 1.5″ X 0.5″, 4′ oak boards
2- 6′ X 8″ waxed canvas tarps
(random screws, strapping, latches, etc)

I just paid £450 (~$520) for a hoop set. Very annoying when you know that there's about £50 worth of metal there. Unfortunately I don't have the resources or space to build my own set. The canvas though is something I could do, as that costs another £350 from Allwheeltrim.

That came out great, I really like the awning idea.I love the wood detail on the ceiling, looks like red oak?I could definitely see doing that on the scout.

Hiya, definitely needed to come down. Hard to believe there isn’t somewhere that still makes that khaki canvas for you. Don’t the army still use it?
I hate these so called ‘market forces’ that hike up the prices of everything. Trouble is they rarely come back down to pre-hike levels either.
There is so much charm to old vehicles still running like your jeep. I love the colours when you polish them. Great job.

that was a good choice on lowering it down a bit and changing the cover lol looks fantastic now well done awesome job love land rovers with me been from great britain great thing about land rovers is you can hand paint them with a tin of paint and they still look great lol most get painted british green
