Land Rover vehicle’s look nice, but the electrical system needs to be fixed!

@BillYT27 says:

Pathetic. Worst commercial ever for a Land Rover.

@randallpinkfloyd7225 says:

The best Land Rover is a Toyota. Some have to learn that lesson the hard way….

@hphillips7425 says:

I am really surprised that someone that reviews vehicles and was in sales would buy one of the least dependable cars

Okay this was painful to watch. No way a dead battery is going to start your engine right after you put a charger on it unless it has a boost feature which isn’t always a good idea to do but can get you out of a pinch. The batter needs time to slowly come up to the correct charge level so as not to damage it. Also, the ECU checks voltage levels at each start request and if it’s below a specified amount it won’t crank in order to save all the systems and modules from an under-volt and amperage spikes. If your battery is going dead all the time you either have a module or system not shutting off completely when the vehicle is turned off and drawing voltage or a combination of short journeys and cold weather is not allowing sufficient charge from the alternator to catch the battery up. This isn’t necessarily an issue specific to LR vehicles as any modern vehicle with lot’s of modules and electronic systems can run into this issue. It’s not a bad idea to have a maintainer at home such as a CTEK or equivalent to occasionally plug the vehicle in to help keep the battery charged especially if it will be sitting for an extended period without operation.

Okay I feel obligated to say this. The problem was never fixed, and if you had been able to successfully do what you were trying to do here, it still wouldn't be fixed. Sure it would be working, temporarily, but the issue causing this would still be lurking in the background.

Once it's working again, get rid of it! It's dangerous! The last thing you want is to have your wife driving it in traffic, with your kid in the back, and suddenly the power steering quits working.

Sorry to be so serious about this. I understand that it's kind of amusing in the context that these incidents actually happened, but there's no guarantee that this would be the case the next time it happens. Take these incidents as a warning, and do what needs to be done.

$100,000 paperweight…

@seymorefact4333 says:

BEN, best way to fix your LR Defender is to sell it to the NEXT SUCKER! its only going to get more expensive with endless repairs! ONLY 10K and needs a jump, battery, power steering issues. At 12k miles…your have engine issues. At 14k ..your have trans issue. At 20k…all problems come at once. SELL IT TO THE NEXT SUCKER!

@reddevil6585 says:

Why on earth did you buy / lease a Land Rover
You are car reviewer
Surely you know these break down all the time
Especially now days there are so many options both in luxury & none luxury brands

@paulgodbey304 says:

Both Land Rover's and Jaguar's are not very reliable. Once you fix it, I'd get rid of it. Buy the Land Cruiser. It's far more reliable.

@Brian_Eugene_Lee says:

Fingers crossed that it'll get fixed soon, Ben!
