got the heat gun on there today and managed to free them. Looks like the previous owner had used thread locker on there for some reason!?! Will be continuing on with the replacement of the timing belt tomorrow. Thanks for your help and all the videos you put up. As a first time landrover owner they have been the best resource our there!
too soft really? don’t undo the middle nut. the drive hub on some Bosch pumps have no keyway and the thing cannot be timed up unless you use a dial guage in the back of the pump. surely they are not that tight?
hello there. I’m in the process of replacing the timing belt on my 300tdi and the 3 bolts that you need to do on the fuel injector pump won’t come undone! The bolt heads are too soft for the bolt extractor sockets too. I am wondering if i can remove the FIP pulley using the big bolt in the middle so I can drill the bolt out using a drill press. Would this work? any other ideas? With many thanks from Australia!
Your welcome Matt.
Cracking stuff … I’ve been doing timing belts for a while on the 300tdi and I never really thought about what I was doing until now … couple of tips along the way there so thanks very much chap 🙂
not odd, just another problem that occurs… glad its sorted. Has the blue smoke dissapeared?
I’d check the fuel system for blockages or restrictions, perhaps from the stack pipe in the tank right the way up to the fuel pump. Is the lift pump in good condition? Tim on FB had a simular problem earlier and it turned out to be a some junk in the tank.
After that see where the blue smoke is coming from. is it consuming oil? Blue smoke is a sign of oil being burned but i would use your nose to see if the smell is oil.
Cylinder head gasket failure or cracked head would show up in the cooling system…pressurising it or even pushing cooling out of the expansion tank.
Diesel engines: fuel supply , air intake and compression are the main factors to check.
You FIP could be failing, the injectors could be dripping and not atomising the fuel correctly. The compression could be down and might be worth checking the compression.
just move the lever where the waste gate servo is connected to
No I’m just doing the front ones. I’m replacing the P gasket and the timingbelt. And I know I get oil dripping from the drain hole .
are you doing rear main?
excellant
Im planing to do the oil seals in a week or so. Ther is not a chance that there will be a video about those soon is there?
cheers!
let me know,… check the intercooler inside too,..they get clogged and so does then inlet manifold. simple things first…
thanks!
Great video.
muito bom
check the waste gate is not siezed too, It may be stuck slightly open? I see video on the turbo coming up!
Turbo, check for excess oil in the outlet of the compressor ( silver bit) and also check boost pressure to see if there is a loss. Check the boost pressure pipe from turbo to injector pump is okay. There is also a little rubber hose connector on the turbo that likes to split. check that carefully.
