Hey Scotty. Tons of info here. Thanks for your videos. Quick question I had
a ball joint separate going down the highway. Would you reuse the lower
control arm or should I grab a new lca? Is there a way to test the
integrity of the lca? It’s cheaper to throw a ball joint on vs a whole
lca!! Thanks

Just be came the proud new owner of a 02 GMC Sonoma. Runs great, but I
could tell during the first drive the suspension was off. I could press on
the front of the truck and bounce it. I watched your video on changing out
the front shocks and pulled it off myself. (Thanks by the way). Now the
bounce is gone but I’m getting a rattle from the front passenger wheel.
I’m guessing it might be the ball joints. Any suggestion to verify what
the rattle is?

This guy is amazing! Simple and straight forward.

Hi Scotty, love your videos! I just replaced the driver side lower ball
joint on my 2005 Hyundai Accent, which I had to press in using one of those
c-clamp style presses. Anyway, thanks to the design of the lower control
arm, I had some trouble getting the new joint seated 100% flush. It’s
almost perfect but I can fit my fingernail under one side. Now my car is
pulling slightly to the right, and I feel some vibration at highway speeds.
Do you think an alignment would fix this or do I need to fix the ball
joint? Any suggestions for that? Thanks in advance!

Al Licks says:

Hi Scotty, thanks for the unflagging energy and excellent information… I
have noticeable clunking over bumps but it only happens after I’ve got the
car warmed up, maybe at least 20 mins into a drive, not when cold. Any
ideas? – balljoints possibly? Have been to four mechanics and they cannot
see anything wrong looking under the car and are suggesting the shocks or
tie rods? It just doesn’t do it when cold…. so I’m thinking something
rubber. any ideas from your 45 years of experience welcome (Al, London, UK)

Kody Darlington says:

Scotty, this 95 explorer I am working on needs a passenger side upper ball
joint, it has 2 nuts that hold it on, do I need to mark the alignment
before I take it off ? or do they just bolt on 1 way ? rather then pressing
the old one out, please let me know . Kody

Scotty your the best!

santilian says:

Mr skotty, where do I get a bolt joint puller like that?

Kody Darlington says:

Scotty, can a bad ball joint, cause a banging clunking noise in the front
end of a vehicle ? found a bad passenger upper ball joint on the 95
explorer , that’s next on my list, it has new sway bar links an bushings ,
4 new shocks, after I replace that ball joint, will that solve it or do I
need to do all 4 ball joints ? don’t mean to be a pain, just still learning
all this , an follow you. Kody

Jon Olkeriil says:

I have plenty of family and friends who are skilled mechanics who I’ve
asked many times to take a look @ my car whenever something breaks. But I
grew sick and tired of hearing the word “Tomorrow”. Round here, that
usually means “Probably Never”
Scotty,… THANK YOU! Your videos really helped me out. I’ve learned so
much. I didn’t notice till later on that I actually prevented myself from
getting ripped off from a mechanic in one of our inspections….all thanks
to your videos. Keep ’em rolling! Thanks again.

Lewy green says:

They aren’t related

guttabaae says:

Scotty can a ball joint break two weeks after a transmission was replaced?
Are they related?.

Scotty Kilmer says:

not much, pretty cheaply made cars, waay too much money for a car from a
company that doesn’t exist anymore

Snidney100 says:

Scotty, as you’ve been a mechanic for 45 years, does it ever get boring?

rrrandommman says:

I love watching you replace bits on a car, it makes so much sense when I
see what it is that’s broken, pulled apart and explained in plain English.

bhstone1 says:

I think it can work if you live in a very sunny state and use solar panels.
It would be cool to turn the roof of the car into a solar panel so it
charges the batteries during the day while not being driven.

Scotty Kilmer says:

tons of things can get bent, jack it up and pull on the wheels and check
for noise that way.

Scotty Kilmer says:

strangely enough it showed no problems until it snapped off, obviously a
design flaw on that make.

皇帝 死亡 says:

Mr Scotty, do we need an alignment after ball joints replacement ?

Scotty Kilmer says:

depends on the vehicle. ON a ford, yes. On a toyota, no.

juan martinez says:

scotty does a steering fluid pulley need to have play when u move it back
and forward? i replaced it a while ago and i bought a new power steering
assembly because whenever i turned my wheels and give it gas the engine
would wine. i use your trick and took the belt off the pulley and turn the
engine on and the noise was gone so im pretty sure the noise is coming from
the power steering pulley. also my power steering fluid keeps getting dirty
for some reason.

matt price says:

where’s the jack stands scotty? being a “mechanic for the last 45 years”
i’m sure you have had a jack fall or had a car fall off of them before even
the lowly tech school where all they do is take tests teach you to ALWAYS
use jack stands

premiermusicvids says:

my ford expidition jolts when doing u turns, is this a problem with my ball
joint?

YuShin Kang says:
