thanks to DIY Dave I saw his video on his Toyota Corolla burning oil and he did the Berryman B12 chem tools upper cylinder cleaning overnight and it helped him. I did this as well and it worked. this is a common problem with GDI engines and some others. I commonly do my oil changes 5000 miles and I’m all highway but they still happen.

I am changing my oil at 3 k instead of 5k now. I don't want the oil rings to get clogged up again.
I practically gave away my 2014 Rio about 3 years ago (bought new) because of 120 mi. per quart. 125,000 miles. I'm crying now…
I learned about this last year because my 2017 Kia Sorento was burning 1.5 qts every 1 k miles. Dealer did oil consumption test 3 times and couldn't fix it with their piston soaks. They didn't use B12 according to their TSB. So a few months later I got a new FREE engine under warranty. at 72,400 miles. I have them put in Valv R&P oil. I use it in my 177k miles Caravan with 4 cyl. Uses 1 qt every 3.5k miles.
I will put in a catch can on Kia when my warranty expires. I have one on my Caravan now.
why nobody is saying that this shit is removing paint from ur oilpan? its dangerous for paint and plastic, what's the effect?
126k on wifes 2017 kia rio. Car about undrivable. Stuttering. Rough ride. Can't drive over 45 mph. Using about a quart every 150 miles. Tried this method. Also replaced plugs and coils. Still need to do oil change but she was overjoyed at how well it runs now. Thank you
B-12 can cure it, my GDi doesn't burn a drop. It used to burn 1 quart every 200 miles.
Hey man is your rio still running?
I have a KIA oil burner 69K that dealer did a 2nd piston soak. I have about 200 miles before they check result. These piston soaks work if done due to stuck oil rings.
Thank you for the video
158k miles on my 2015 soul 2l, just purchased a few months ago, changed spark plugs and coils, and oil, notice the crazy oil consumption, changed pcv and it stopped the oil consumption.
Update!
Still consuming but not as much, switched oil to 10w30 and added stp high mileage additive, so far so good, will update in a month or 2
Kia doest tell you that you need to clean the valves every 10,000 miles. Thats what clogs up the oil rings. Your fix cleans the oil rings.
Check the oil pressure sensor located above filter, easy repair. Mine was leaking. Replace pvc valve. Easy, both cheap.
Hi!
I really had hard time to focus and understand what you were explaining exactly.
Is it possible that you can describe it step by step what you did?
i have a 2013 Kia Sportage 1.6 GDI engine.
