How To Replace A Battery In Kia Optima and other Kia and Hyundai models.
For illustration purposes, demonstrated on a 2013 kia optima.

Fob uses a single CR2032 battery

Customer was having issues with the keyfob not working correctly – had to be much closer to car for it to work than normal and even then often would not work to open or lock doors and trunk.

Troubleshooting should assume a dying or weak battery before thinking the fob is malfunctioning or something worse.

In this case the customer did not have the second fob handy so I opened up this one and tested the battery strength on a volt meter. It read 2.79 which indicates a weak battery and would create the symptoms customer was experiencing.

Once it was swapped for a new battery, the fob worked just like it was supposed to.

thanks man.. this morning I ran into trouble with my car not starting.  It will crank but won't turn over and the dash indicated that it can't detect the keyfob inside of the vehicle.  Replaced the battery moments ago and hopefully this fixes it…. Great brief video!
