KIA Optima Disaster

My 2012 KIA Optima EX-Turbo. This is what my car has become after less than 10000 miles of use; with an incompetent dealership repairing it and little to no…

Christopher Ingrassia says:

Wait a minute….the car starts and runs once you press the relay in? Did
you have a mechanic walk through this step by step to show them exactly
what doesn’t work and then what does?

David Lawrence says:

I would be real careful about poking around relays because the dealer can
then say you voided your warranty. I feel sorry for you man I just think
you have a $32,000 dollar lemon. Check to see if it was made on a Monday or
Friday. My advice would be to have your attorney activate the lemon law
clause and then trade it out for a Honda, Toyota or Nissan.

Dan Houtz says:

Yes I absolutely am and u are as well..Do u want me tell them more about
u.I know who u are but I don’t think u remember me although u very well
should.Think hard but please don’t hurt yourself and don’t forget helmet
princess

Collin Lutz says:

I won’t name call like so many have done, but I will say this. You
obviously have a “Lemon”. If it comes back to you 3 times, you by law get a
replacement if the same model and trim. I have two Kia optimas and I love
them (08′ and 11′) and neither have given me any problems. Ratings and
reviews prove you wrong. It is also obvious that the dealership you deal
with is the problem who only work on and sell Kia cars. They do not make
them. There is always going to be a bad apple in the bunch. Even top of the
line car manufacturers have them. I do feel like you are simply upset with
a bad situation but strongly feel like you are in the wrong by bad mouthing
this car company who has come so far. Get a lawyer, if you haven’t already,
and make that dealership get you a replacement. When you have 3-4 Kia’s and
they all do this, then I would say you might have grounds. Good luck

TonyTube407 says:

Sorry you’re going through all this. I feel your pain. Did this sort of
thing with another manufacturer. I’ve had really good luck with my 2012
Optima SX…love my car. Sounds like you got a lemon and Kia should be
getting you another car. Keep pestering them and be familiar with your
state’s lemon laws. Good luck!

Fusionlegacy09 says:

Stop crying like a little bitch. You look like an inbreed anyways.
Inbreeds shouldn’t drive anyways. You have to hold the start button for a
few seconds in order for it to start…you dumb fucktard. Sell you car and
just buy a bike.

Could the issues you are having be happening because you decided to correct
an issue on yoru own and when it failed you saw it as a convenient “way
out” to blame the manufacturer and dealer when you in fact probably fucked
up your car?

Chuck Holmes says:

Dude you are such a fucking pussy and a whiner. Bring it in and get it
fixed… Stop being a douche bag and fix it.. I have and own 3 KIA’s 2 of
them are over 150k and still running (on factory belts) you are such a
fucking whiner

Vaha Duric says:

DUDE YOU ARE RETARDED ANY CAR CAN HAVE PROBLEMS AND DONT BLAME KIA IS NOT
KIAS FAULT IS A DEALERSHIP TECHS THAT NEED TRAINING. YOU HAVE PROBLEMS WITH
ELECTRICAL FUSES THAT IS ACTUALLY A COMPLIMENT REPLACING A HARNEST THATS
ALL IT IS 100$ PART GET OUT OF HERE YOU ARE THE DUMBEST MAN I SAW ON YOU
TUBE I HOPE THEY CRACKED YOU WHO EVER SOLD IT TO YOU. BASHING KIA FOR YOUR
DUMB ASS.. TAKE IT TO KIA DEALERSHIP AND HAVE IT FIXED..
WHAT ABOUT OTHER 100,000 UNITS OUT THERE THAT ARE RUNNING EXCELLENT LIKE
MINE.

Connor Guzzi says:

I have a 2013 Kia optima that has a problem too.

Michel Blais says:

I have an Optima and love it no problems at all. I had a honda that was a
nightmare. I got the manufacturer to replace it under the lemon law. Either
way you need to contact the KIA USA and get someone on it. Did you by
chance keep the records of repair from the dealer? They will no doubt
probably say you did the repair. I would also contact the owner of the
dealership and let him know.
I hope you get the issues resolved. either way it is under warranty. You
can go to a different dealear ship in a different town/city and let them
deal with it.

bzness says:

Kia is very good, there are probably 10 times more problems with other car
makes that aren’t on video!

Tracey Sherman says:

looked like the odo said 97,000?

rich young says:

its something so simple. it’s a switch in the brake. a tiny switch that
tells the start button to start the engine. the car thinks the brake is
not depressed. very simple fix. the start button is green in accessory
mode. you will know if it is the brake switch if you simply do this :
WITHOUT DEPRESSING THE BRAKE, PRESS THE START BUTTON ONCE, PRESS AND HOLD
THE START BUTTON A 2ND TIME and hold it for about 20seconds. Car will
override the brake switch and start the car. Common problem with any make
with a push button start.

MrSparks54 says:

There’s one in every crowd, a complainer who is impossible to please. I
have 54,000 miles on my Optima and had a couple of minor issues which the
dealer took care of promptly and properly. Kia Motors called to make sure
the repairs were done to my satisfaction. To say Kia has little to no
support is ludicrous. The way you hacked the wiring makes me think you
helped create problems to begin with.

Clinton McClure says:

I’ve owned 2 hyundais and now an Optima as well…. Kia/Hyundai don’t play
games when it comes to customer service. If you call corporate they will
come pick it up for you and treat you like a king while they fix the issue.

aron john says:

best thing to do for your self is to take it back and have them fix it.
DUUUUUUUUUHHHHH

spaided says:

That stinks man. I am going to agree with the rest of the people, just
throw a fit in the dealership, they HAVE to fix it. I understand you got a
lawyer and it sucks you had to resort to that, but hopefully that gets you
fixed up!! Best of luck man.

Roger Maestas says:

Dude it’s a minor problem shut up and get it fixed elsewhere. My kia has
20k miles and I have had zero problems. I got mine in Santa Fe

Ralph Fearney says:

1. Learn how to start a car with keyless entry

2. go and tell the dealership that you started the car by ripping apart the
relay and short circuiting the electrics bypassing all the safety systems
and now all the warning lights are on, i can guess what they will say !!

Al Florida says:

2012 SX here with 37,300 miles. No problems at all. Thing runs like a
spanked horse.

BalzyMcGEE says:

Stop bitching about it and take action. Go to the dealership and complain
till they fix it or give you another one.

Roger Keller says:

I have an optima and I love it the sx turbo

DzDeadlyy says:

Not fair to say their warranty support sucks, that’s just your local kia
dealer. As for that shabby repair job..that ridiculous. Take that back and
demand they fix it right. light the fuckin thing on fire urself if u gotta
and say it started a fire hahaah (not really).

RobQc says:

I would just like to help if I can please call Kia corporate the number is
in your owners manual and explain the problems with your vehicle and keep
at them until you get help there is a problem with the harness and its not
anything that you have done, I hope this helps and if you have already
spoken to corporate keep calling them and create a paper trail you musy
give them every opportunity to repair your vehicle befor you take the next
step.

lokk rekin says:

had a 2012 for about 10 000 miles, maintained by the dealership, never had
an issue. Had a accident that totalled it and now got a 2013 sx-T with a
few mods and no issue either and still maintained by the Kia dealership.
Very professional people.

Blaspheming the entity and saying that the lawyers can’t do anything pretty
much sums up your issue, prolly something you tried to do and voided the
warranty.

Mohammed Muthana says:

your problem is the foot brake switch its job is the activation of brake
lights and starting the car when you hit the brakes it fails because the
brake lights take too much amps damaging the conducters so get anew brake
swich and change your tail lights with LEDs it take little power than the
usual light bulbs

Everton Mckenzie says:

Firstly, you ripping apart the car isn’t helping. Obviously the car’s
computer has been messed with, hence the reason it is thinking all
the systems are failing. The sensors that report to the computer are
independent of each other. The odds of all of them failing simultaneously
are very small. But common sense isn’t all that common so…..

Duncan E says:

Too bad you’re having this problem. I read 1000’s of Optima form member
posts and your issue is definitely unique to you. I would bet that you
bring a similar energy to other areas of your life where they end up
unresolved and your life story is further validated. I f your serious about
getting it fixed and the dealership seems to be sidestepping the issue, try
the national offices. If you are telling the entire story then there is no
reason why they would not do everything needed until its fixed 100%. Best
of luck……hope you can love your Kia again soon.

Paddy McGinty says:

This problem is caused by the corrosion of the fuel pump relay. The engine
therefore should not be able to start. The computer will skip sequences in
order to actuate the brake warning lights and engine warning lights which
should prevent you from continuing to attempt to start the car. However
because you are an gelgamek you then decide to butcher the wires (taped)
and depress the relay with your finger. This causes a conductance creating
a super fluctuating current which starts the engine with multiple
errors recorded by the on-board computer. What you are not aware of is the
signals emitted from the computer to a remote satellite dish which beams
these into space. One day you may encounter a visit from an alien race who
will be fascinated with you DIY and camera skills!

spywiz1 says:

Please learn how to use you car before posting videos that make you look
ignorant. You may have problems with your KIA service center, but your lack
of knowledge of your car is a problem, also. At this point I think if you
replace the relay (or get the service center to do it) and hold the start
button in for 2-3 seconds, as the owners manual instructs you to do, I
think it will solve the problem. The way that you are attempting to start
the car with a “momentary” press of the button only puts the car in
accessory mode. Just like turning the key one click on an ordinary key
start car. Try this. I believe it will solve the problem. Please let us
know.
