Just wanted to thank you again for your video. I replaced my passenger door latch motor this past weekend with your video assistance. I paid 14$ for the part from the nearby Kia dealership. I also used the TSB link on the forum to print out the pictures of each step.

I noticed if you grabbed and held the handle (inside or out one) out very far (to the max) it allowed the door to unlatch manually and then seemed to be able to open/slide automatically. It was a good work around until I could get

Great post and very entertaining. I was laughing my ass off with the sticky goo on your fingers after the “dealer’s handywork”. Obviously your tropical environment didn’t help. Anyways, off to fix my door on my van. Cheers!

We have a 2008 Sedona and the N/S door went faulty last week. Found this video, ordered 2 motors (cos t’other one is bound to fail at some point) from sgpetchparts.co.uk, (£14 each inc p&p) fitted 1 this morning, door now working perfect. Very pleased with myself, but more so, eternally grateful to Mr Gtd65 for his help. So, job done and i’m now toasting your very good health with a rather splendid single malt from your ‘neck o’the woods’
Slainte Mhath!!

You’re welcome 🙂 If the dealers just charged a fair rate they could make quite a bit of money really. Once a repair gets up in to the $100’s it really makes a lot of sense to get the job done yourself. Of course all of the smaller dollar items can add up over time as well! There’s a couple of KIA Sedonas on the KIA Owners sit,e with well over 200K and still running fine. It seems it’s mainly smaller electrical gremlins that cause most of the problems – touch wood that is!!! 😉

You’re welcome 🙂

Thanks mate! Dealer wanted $400 to fix this problem. Instead, I bought the part from them for $18.86 and did it myself. (I couldn’t find the part any cheaper locally.) The video and the printed guide together are a perfect fit! BTW, it’s a 2006 Kia Sedona with 123K miles and still going strong. Thanks so much for solving my problem!!!

Hey this was a very help video it save me a lot of $ dealer want $ 200 part only cost $ 13.00 I did the work following the video thanks for this .

gtd65 says:

That’s good – as long as you resolved the problem in the end that’s the main thing 🙂

Final analysis: between this video and the printed guide in the link, I got it done and it’s working great! I made a few mistakes on the way. The first was mixing this video up with images from a separate thread and issue which led me to my back quarter panel. The second was confusing just the very visible portion of the controller assembly with the whole part, sitting between the framework, which confusion happened because I didn’t refer back to the printed guide like I should. THANKS!

Shafferprincess says:

Well, here again I let myself get distracted. Not different. I just thought watching your video that the controller assembly was the box sitting high and easily visible, but rather it’s the one lower and back behind. I have looked at the guide and I see your point about using it for some of the specifics….like extricating the controller assembly…

gtd65 says:

There’s quite a few common issues with these vehicles actually, which you don’t notice or read about before you buy one…. Intermittent no start/no crank was the other problem – that surfaced not long after purchasing the van. Its now hopefully cured in my other video.

gtd65 says:

If you head on over to the kia-forums link at the top and join in you could post some photos of your door so we can check the differences. Have you downloaded the guide from the link in the address above. Remember this video really only supplements the guide that you can download and print out 🙂

Shafferprincess says:

As to other problems, we’ve had a squeak in the back, the front passenger seat track had to be replaced, the front passenger window motor got jerky and acted up, the fuel pump when out around 40k, the transmission is jerky or over-revs on acceleration sometimes, and when coasting it often feels like the transmission is dragging on us. Most of that was resolved while still under bumper-to-bumper warranty, which expired a month ago…but this one I’m on my own.

Shafferprincess says:

Well, I’ve found another difference. One reason I got sidetracked is because the piece in question in my door is more internal, facing towards the outside, behind extra bracing and framework…compared to what I see in this video, where the casing is all exposed and just pops out. Why would the door framework be different between our vehicles?

gtd65 says:

Yeah it’s probably an easy mistake to make, this will be a much less labour/labor intensive fix than the main door motor in the rear of the van. The upside is that it’s a pretty cheap fix and it shouldn’t take you that long to do – taking the video added time to the job but it’s a good addition to the guide. Have you had any other problems with your Entourage?

Shafferprincess says:

Uh-oh….I think I got totally off and looking at the wrong motor! I ended up in the back quarter panel looking at the pulley system to actually move the door…. I didn’t realize I was chasing the wrong squirrel because I attributed the difference to Kia vs. Hyundai. So now you may have saved me twice. 😀

gtd65 says:

I’ve added a link in the video description at the top.

gtd65 says:

This is actually also a 2007 Hyundai Entourage as well 🙂

Shafferprincess says:

Freakin’ awesome. Dead on. I’m dealing with this on my 2007 Entourage, half way into the job and trying to figure out what the actual problem spot is. Exact symptoms. The Entourage door motor is actual in the back quarter panel, rather than in the door as show on this Sedona. Other than that, all looks the same, and I’m ready to finish my project now. Thanks!
