I really wish I could show you that. But I got rid of that vehicle. sorry

Donni Canasta says:

I’d personally love to see Neri’s request to replace the parking brake shoes on that 04 optima if it’s got disc rears ;]

TheRykerDane says:

Thanks and you are welcome!

Nole Perez says:

thanks very helpful I have a 2004 kia sedona

TheRykerDane says:

I didn’t remove any out of the tank. You do not need to take any out. It is possible it will come out on its own when you push the caliper pistons back in. So then you might have to add to the reservoir tank.

J Price says:

How much fluid if any did you remove from the reservoir?

TheRykerDane says:

Yep its pretty handy for sure! Glad it helped!

Ga129 says:

THAT COAT HANGER IS THE BEST IDEA I’VE EVER SEEN! i can’t believe i’ve never though about that, thans man!

TheRykerDane says:

yes if you have disc brakes on the back too. Otherwise they are drum brakes and do not need to be changed as often.

Greg Cherry says:

Thanx a lot , I just got 2005 Optima and it looks like the same way I did on my Tacoma , is it the same way for rear brakes??

TheRykerDane says:

Thanks! Glad it helped. I will see if I can find one. Might not be an 06, but will be similar. I will check, thanks for watching!

Neri JUarez says:

Thanks for the video. I was wondering if you could do a video on replacing the parking brake shoes for an 06 kia optima. Would help a lot. Keep up the good job.

TheRykerDane says:

They will not look like the front and have a disc that the pad squeezes. They will look like a drum in the center of your wheel.

TheRykerDane says:

Well you may have to check and see if the rear are drum brakes. If they are drum brakes they don’t need to be changed as often as the front. Actual time would be about 45 mins if you hurry. Longest time is jacking up the car and taking off the wheels. Also goes quicker if you have a big jack that can lift the whole front end at once. thanks for watching!

TheRykerDane says:

Oh thats great! I am so glad that it helped you out to make it a little easier. Thanks for watching!

Craig Jungers says:

My wife and I are both senior citizens and it takes both of us (and air tools) to get things done. We couldn’t have done it without your video. Best I’ve seen… although the pads didn’t go back in as easily for us as they did for you we got it done.

TheRykerDane says:

That is probably your U Joint that is grinding. Its a common problem. And not to expensive to fix. U joint is short for Universal joint. Hope that helps!

purpleismyfave17 says:

great video! hey would you help me with my problem? I drive a 2006 KIA Optima and when Im at low speeds especially in parking lots or turning left the front part of my car makes a terrible grinding sound. I was wondering if you knew what the problem is? Thanks 🙂

starskyhutch1976 says:

Why are kias always beat up shape ? I see hyundai and they seem better shape when used .

TheRykerDane says:

Well you need to make sure that your brake fluid reservoir is open for sure when you push the piston back in. It should go in whether or not your disconnected it. But now you will have to bleed your brakes, after the brake job is done. So this is a two person job. Look up a video on that. Hope this helps!

Aryeh Yohan says:

what if u disconnect the brake line from the back of the piston by accident and after installing back together the piston would not close all the way,,,what next

TheRykerDane says:

Thats great! I am glad it helped you, thanks for watching!

alourey5 says:

thank you thank you thank you, !!!! i am a single mum of 7 and i just don’t have the money to pay an extra 180 dollars to have someone do this for me, and I suprised myself by actually doing my own……. thank you again. keep up the videos,,, because they do help.

TheRykerDane says:

glad it helped! Thanks for watching!

Alexandro Beato says:

Great video! Thank you so much for this great instructional video.

TheRykerDane says:

hmmm, interesting, if you can ever get it unlocked, you need to take out the screws on the door panel to see whats holding it up. If not electronic, then it might be jammed and need some type of lube spray. Your car key does not unlock it either? try spraying some lube in your keyhole.

Spacedish2k says:

awesome, thanks for the great info, I did my 2003 optima in no time with your help. if you’re looking for ideas, the driver side door lock/latch mechanism in the same car is problematic, mine has failed and It wont open if its been locked without a good fight, changing that looks daunting.

TheRykerDane says:

great! thanks so much for the info!

sloecoach says:

If anyone is interested, the 2007 Kia Rondo is identical to this. What I do differently is just loosen the top bolt, and then pivot the caliper up, rather than remove it.

TheRykerDane says:

Thats awesome! Go buy something you want now with the extra money!

Stuart McLoughlin says:

Nice video, worked a treat for me and saved me about £80 in labor.

Rhonda Vaughn says:

OK we did it this morning! easiest thing ever! Thank you! saved us some major cash (and future cash!)

Rhonda Vaughn says:

Ok, you made this look really easy! I think I may be able to convince my hubby that we can do this ourselves…anything we should watch out for being first timers?

TheRykerDane says:

thats great! Good you could follow, do it yourself, and save some moola! Thanks for watching!

IAMSOCOOLLOL says:

You’re my new hero dude, great easy to follow instructions for first timers. Just saved me hundreds and now thats something else i can say i know how to do myself. Thanks again

TheRykerDane says:

Thats awesome! Glad people can save money doing it themselves! Thanks for watching!
