Chris Skalski says:

I love my Optima 2012 EX w/ 27k and zero problems. No recalls, no TSB’s,
nothing. Heavy use in heavy traffic too. Very very reliable, and with an
intake sounds better than the turbo.

mrsimeon says:

RELIABLE and quick, Nissan Maxima, Acura TL, HOnda ACcord V6,Subaru, Top
quality CARS. for the money

Stew Stan says:

I want one so bad.

Paul79UF says:

The Optima belongs to my friend. I drove it for about 10 minutes and test
drove two other SX models. The city acceleration is very strong and highway
is good too. The car definitely doesn’t have the low end torque of a
supercharged GM 3.8L. But the turbo on the SX does kick in pretty quickly.
Hope ya get the SX! 🙂

Michael Pack says:

Your going to miss that buick

motormusique says:

This is what I don’t like about new Hyundai/Kias…even their more exciting
engines sound like boring vacuums

xlpaintplr1 says:

Why r u talking like we were there in your old ass acura that craps all
made up… how are the heated and air conditioned seats acura doesnt have
that in the front and back..im buying kia

Paul79UF says:

The Kia Forums are a great resource. Go to the 2011+ Optima section.

Flightline Aviation says:

its a turbo 4 cylinder, that’s why. Trying to make it fuel efficient. just
throw a nice exhaust and it’ll sound nicer.

mrsimeon says:

What ever those 2 extra horses that I gave it is not going to loose the
race, the guy was excited thought he had a quick car, but I passed that car
so easily, ACURA TL 2004, 6 spd manual, I have about 270 horses then, or
should i correct myself, approximately 264???? i don’t know the specs, But
i have less power and I tore that Optima up, Everyone Hurry buy one since
it was in the NBA dunk contest, GARbage car,

mrsimeon says:

These Kia, Hyundai, Korean cars, ARE such crap, Very nice looking cars, but
then again they are copying off older HOnda, Merc, Lexus models, BUT not
worth the aggrivation when a new car needs to be returned to the dealer
within its first years of use, I expect all new Cars not to need anything
other preventive maintenance in at least 3 years, Good luck all. With your
Optioma on this video, why did your car shift out early in 1st and 2nd? did
you let off the gas?

asghernaqvi says:

This is my dream car

whatutalkinbout97 says:

These Cars look so sexy!!

kevin stermer says:

But better mpg and better price. I got my sho for 30k with only 18k miles.
Great deal

Stew Stan says:

I have a 01 Pontiac Grand Prix and it’s about 8.3 seconds which I find
adequate. So yeah I could settle for the base model on a performance
standpoint. Performance isn’t the only thing though I would love to have
the panoramic sunroof which you can’t get on the base model.

Paul79UF says:

Me too. 🙂 I’m hoping to get a barely used 2011 or 2012 in 2013 or 2014.

Veyronp87 says:

not bad, when the turbo kicks in, it moves

Endocannabinoid System says:

It does 5.0 maybe faster, 365hp I believe

Arunas4001 says:

How do u like the car? is gas on the sx good? what grade of gas do u put it
in?

Roger Maestas says:

i feel like my kia is way slower than 6.5? :/

Michael Pack says:

My buddy has a 2001 Buick Park avenue Ultra with the super charger and he
averages 22mpg with mostly city driving. of course he hardly ever reaches
2,000 rpms.

ショナサン サントス says:

Okay first of i think this car is impressive, i mean cmon its a 4 Cylinder
that produces 274hp with a Damn Turbo.. Thats impressive..

kevin stermer says:

What was the time?

Paul79UF says:

Hey Matthew, Thanks for the tip! I’ll definitely do that the next time I
get my hands on my friend’s car. 🙂 This video was my first time driving
it. The 0-60 run was thrilling enough. Should be more fun with TCS off. It
was also a slightly damp morning so traction was limited.

mrsimeon says:

I put 1st, put 2nd in, slowly accelerated, dropeed 3rd gear in at about 3k
RPMs. pulled in the right lane just caught up to his door He Nails the gas,
I keep my 3rd gear going up to about little over 6000 rpms, put 4th gear
in, He was trying not to let me get in front of him, at around 80mph its I
get back in the left lane Tearing that car up. I expected more, and I did
not even redline my gears out at all, pretty peppy car the OPtima, but no
match for an ACURA TL, 270 HP,

mrsimeon says:

The OPtima, is no match for an ACURA TL, 270 HP, curb weight at 3500 lbs
almost the same specs as the KIA OPTIMA has more HP as the specs quote, BUT
the transmissions are crappy, Do your self a Favor everyone, stick to what
you know is nice RELIABLE and quick,

kevin stermer says:

Yea me too then another site said 5.5? The new twin turbo taurus sho does
5.0 so that cant be right. Oh well kias are nice

Paul79UF says:

I think you’re right. I doubt the car does it in under 6 seconds. But 274
HP from a 2.0L turbo I4 that “can” get 34 mpg on the highway using regular
gas is nothing to complain about. 🙂 My old Pontiac Grand Prix GTP only had
240 HP stock from the premium gas guzzling 3.8L supercharged V6 that could
sometimes get 28 mpg hwy if I drove it really easy on cruise control.

MatthewM4dr1d says:

turn tcs off for superior results 🙂 watch my vid!

VVSH07E says:

yeah but SHO would compete more with genesis in terms of price. 5.0 R spec
does about 5 sec.

Takenata says:

Yeah I have to agree with him on this. I ran 0-60 in around 5.5ish with TCS
off. Can’t believe I am going to say this…but…Go Kia!

InfamousPR says:

I calculated 6 seconds to 60. Have to try that with my 2012 SX. I got 35
mpg last week driving from Maryland to New York City and back going 75 & 80
mph most of the time. However MPG on city is a bit disappointing as i’m
only averaging 15 to 18 mpg, mostly due to very short distance driving and
hills. This makes the turbo eat up the gas..

bbsSKEET13 says:

6.8 sec… I Rented One From Avis During The 4th Of July Holiday

Paul79UF says:

Sorry, I didn’t record the time. I found a website that lists the 0-60mph
time as 6.1 seconds.

mrsimeon says:

It’s Stylish looks, BUT with 276 hp, come on, The car weak point is the
transmission. An Optima SX today tried to pull away from me today, Brand
new still had the rear window tag. I was behind him at a LIGHT, I have a
2004 ACURA TL 6 speed manual,

Paul79UF says:

Yeah. You’re right. It wasn’t too bad on the highway. But I was lucky to
get 15 MPG in the city since I was always using the boost. 🙂

iGaRaai90 says:

woah we have a unique similarity here, I currently have a 2003 park avenue
ultra same motor as you grand prix, different tranny , and weighs I more
find the mpg okay at 22 city, and 37 highway, now how is the the city ,and
highway acceleration in the optima compared to the grand prix you had? does
the optima have as much torque, I’m looking to trade my buick the 2013
model thanks!

Michael Pack says:

28 mpg from a large super charged v6 is hardly a guzzler.

ugotserved911 says:

0-60 in 6 sec on video, acceleration starts at around 1.95 sec round it to
2, and hits 60 at 8 sec.

jim smith says:

I seen on the 0-60 times.com that a 2011 Kia Optima SX Turbo will get a
0-60 mph in 6.1 seconds .
