Matt Downing says:

just got my lights in, hope you can help! couple questions. 1. did you just
cut off the pigtails from the lights, so only using the two wires coming
from the lights? 2. where does the other end of Pin 87a go? (I assume that
is what makes it blink when you lock / unlock). Thanks in advance

MrEvo8Dave says:

What’s the name of the wheels? And the specs

crystalworks1 says:

2011 SX Tech/Touring packages.

MilosCsrb says:

Awesome car, did you used sony cam ?

crystalworks1 says:

@hppck21 I believe you can order them from kspec.com. It takes them a
couple of weeks to get to the states though. It took me about 4 hours to
install them but I am pretty experienced with automotive wiring and
lighting modifications. Should take a novice about 6 or 7 hours.

crystalworks1 says:

We just hit 30,000 miles and haven’t had a single issue with the car yet
other than some rattles in the panoramic roof that we had to take to the
dealer and have fixed. Also with the original programming the wastegate
would rattle something fierce. Enough of us complained and they came out
with an update that kept the wastegate rod open on startup so as to keep it
from rattling. So far so good. Haven’t read anything about the turbo “limp”
mode.

crystalworks1 says:

Why yes I am…

Jay Kim says:

are you using nikon d3100 lol

crystalworks1 says:

@mattd9559 Yes you can just cut the excess pigtails off. 87a goes to the
+12v side of the LED mirrors. I tapped into it very close to the fuse box.
I forget the wire color though. You can check KGIS for the wiring diagrams
to get the wire color. It’s a really handy site. I’m glad Kia makes it
available to everyone.

Benoit Murray says:

Very good job ! I would like to know what your dealer did to fix rattles in
your pano rook ? My dealer seems to have no idea how to fix it:-(… Super
nice wheels ! could you share the model ? Looking for 20″ with 245-35-20.
Thanks !

crystalworks1 says:

Not without buying new fog lights also. Even then I don’t know if the
bumper on the hybrid is like the other optimas. You would have to gamble
and try it out. I haven’t heard of anyone else with a hybrid doing this
yet.

crystalworks1 says:

No. At least according to my service adviser at Kia.

lVlike jones says:

are those 19’s?

fack yu says:

I actually have a 2012 optima hybrid, do you think they will fit on my car?

crystalworks1 says:

Sorry, was trying to give everyone an idea of what is necessary to
accomplish the wiring and other aspects of installing the lights. Thought
it was pretty self-explanatory so I did not narrate. Next time I will.

iGreenTech says:

wood grain interior, 18″ chrome 5 spoke rims, chrome spolier and chrome on
the side skurts

repins198610 says:

The rims black would look nice bro

realgunta says:

looks mad clean. Good job man

SAS S says:

Where did u order these from?… and how long did it take u to put them in?

fack yu says:

does cutting the inner bumper void any warranties?

crystalworks1 says:

That’s true. It also costs about 4000 more for the SXL package. If the
other things that are included aren’t important to you, doing just the
lights is probably more cost effective.

crystalworks1 says:

Bought them from Jayongmall. It’s in the K5 section. Now that they are on
the SXL though you might be able to source them in the states. I bought
them at a time when they were only available in over seas markets. Yes they
are 100% OEM.

crystalworks1 says:

I haven’t seen one no… not at the dealerships or on the road.

K2 says:

Hey there. Have seen this question, but not the answer. Does the entire
unit..fog light plus plastic mounting come out and get replaced with new
plastic mounting …then add the fog light to new mounting then install?

jack smith says:

Can you find the SXL at dealerships? i can not find one anywhereeeeee

crystalworks1 says:

The dealer had to drop the entire headliner and take down each fastener for
the roof cartridge. Then reinstall each fastener with a rubber washer on
each. The wheels are 20×8″ Privat Netz. I think that is the size tire we
are running… or maybe 235/35/20.

crystalworks1 says:

Oh and thanks… I’m sort of an e30 junkie. Have 3 of them currently.

tangoblonde says:

Rims look good, but it desperately needs a drop.

Amanda547 says:

I also have a 2011 Optima SX and I love to have the LEDs in the front too.
Great job. Looks beautiful.

iGreenTech says:

Search 2012 optima issues and also 2012 sonata issues you’ll see some on
here

crystalworks1 says:

Yes. You have to cut the inner bumper. Not sure how the new SX Limited does
it. You may be able to just buy a bumper reinforcement from that car that
is already shortened at the dealer. When I did my install the Limited was
not out yet.

iGreenTech says:

Oh and have you been having Turbo Limp Mode issues??? i’ve seen SOO MUCH
people with issues with the Optima and Sonata, well from Hyundai and Kia
alone… I was in love with the car but, after researching A LOT and
shocked i’m like oh hell naw lol, idk im waiting for the 2013 Fusion
Titanium EcoBoost, i just love the Aston Martin grill, throw some rims on
it and LAWWD HAM MURSEY, she goina look pretty, or a Camry SE V6

Josh Alvarez says:

Dang that Beemer looks badass!!!

crystalworks1 says:

No, video was taken with a Nikon D3100. Thanks for the compliment, the wife
still loves the car after 23,000 miles.

clarenceexd says:

Are those Stock HID? Did you match the foglights with it?

danecroft21 says:

How did you get the LED DRL’s? Went to the KIA dealership here in Raleigh,
and none of them had LEDs on there nor did any of the staff knew what I was
talking about. Are they aftermarket?

Matt Downing says:

@danecroft21 I’m in Raleigh too.. I got mine of ebay for around $200. Got
them from Korea in about a week with standard shipping (may just have been
a fluke). I saw at Fred Anderson Kia (where I purchased mine) they sell
them for $300 and $500 for the install. Almost finished installing mine,
got rained out.

fack yu says:

where did you purchase the drl’s exactly? are they OEM?

Daniel Cardona says:

Kia the power to surprise:) Hyundai rethinking new possibilities. Got to
love Korean cars.
