Hello, PS3DemonRacer313 thank’s for your comment and to help you answer your question. If you look on the video recording numbers 2:10 and 4:20 you can see the tweeters and it look like you would have to remore the glove box on the right side and the AC vents on the left side, along with part of the dash board in order to remove the small speakers. It could be they just pop out from the top, try this first (carefully) before removing anything more.If you need more info talk to a stereoTech.

PS3DemonRacer313 says:

how to you remove the second part of the dash the part with the tweeters cuz im Interested installing new tweeters.

Thanks for the reply. The heater leaked so bad and I think it messed up the eletrical system from the steams. I disconnected the heater core hose, but the damaged was beyond the repair cost, so I trade it in.

MyAlbertC says:

Sorry for the delay responds rbu2m, Please understand it does look like alot of work but once you start putting the parts back together it becomes easier. If you have a good mechanical mind or someone who does have one along with a helpful attitude, you can and will get the job done.

MyAlbertC says:

Thank’s for your responds transmsam and It’s great that you help your family and friends. and please note that the cost for the water heater core was close to $25.00 and rest cost me lots of time and patience. Keep up the good work Sir.

What an effinn nightmare!!, I work on cars for family and friends, it is sad to see what shops charge for a job like this, I have seen so many people pay for a repair shop for a repair job more than the car is worth!. Remember, use your best judgment, and think bout cutting your losses and junking or selling the car first.

For anyone that is looking for a free online copy of the service manual for this Kia Sportage (mechanical & electrical), just go to: web kiatechinfo. Register for an account (free). And search for your model & year. Hopefully, this could help others. As for me, this video was very helpful. Thank you.

Excuse me, could you help me please, i dont have the money to change the part, or a mechanic as of right now, is there any way i could just bleed all the liquid that leaks until it doesnt leak anymore, its all leaking under the passenger side under the dashboard. will this leak stop once all the liquid is out?

rbu2m says:

Thanks for the post..I got a 2000 KIA Sportage model needing heater core remove. Looks like a lot of parts need to be removed to get to the heater core.

MyAlbertC says:

Sorry to hear you had a bad time with the clips and hope you replaced them with new clips. And if you have a problem with with the repair manual you can always go to the dealership to the parts department and ask for a print out of your car part and this will help as well. Thanks for your responds.

megadecimal says:

and those darn clips nearly drove me mad!

megadecimal says:

Ya man, crazy! Hayne’s repair manual is for Spectra, Sephia and Sportage. I find the instructions for the 2002 sportage kind of jump around between models.

MyAlbertC says:

Thanks for your positive reply. My daughter was thinking of doing the same as you are considering, in just disconnecting the heater core, but I mention to her if your going to keep this car let’s do it right.and yes it was lots of work, but happy to say we did the work and saved my daughter lots of money on repairs. Hope you can find a good mechanical minded friend, that can help you with your car.

Thank you sharing your information and experience. This looks like a lot of work, and I am considering disconnecting the heater core and buying an automotive electric heater and fan. You must love your daughter very much to go through this, she is a very lucky person to have such a loving father.
