Thanks for the video, my concern has been the air bag like stfuandance mentioned. My jeep is the 2000 Cherokee sport and everything looks similar. My emergency flashers come on with the turn signals and my wiper control will not work intermittently. Great video…I agree with Joe Smith you should do this professionally.

I’ll get my resume updated. Thanks.

Joe Smith says:

nice job with the video; concise & well detailed. You should do this for a living 🙂

Yes, on the wrangler there is a bolt you remove to disable the airbag. I just unhooked the battery. That should do it too.

Thank you so much, this video is super helpful! I need to replace the turn signal switch in my jeep grand cherokee, looks like it’ll be pretty similar. Are there any precautions to take regarding the airbag? I’m scared it’s going to deploy in my face… thanks again!

Hmmn. I’d pull it back out and compare it to the original. See if you can figure out what trips the reset and see if they are the same on both parts.

I have a 1999 RAV4 and just replaced the turn signal switch, as the old one was broken off. I had no trouble with the replacement process, but now that I’m driving it, my signal isn’t cancelling on either side. This wasn’t a problem, even when the old switch was broken. Any ideas?

Just had a bad switch issue ( 2004 Jeep wrangler fog light on – off lever. ) … your video really came in handy… and a good job with detail… Thanks Much !!

Will do, Have a squeak in the drive train, a blower that doesn’t work in 2nd position and rear breaks squealing. Just have to finish some remodel projects at the carwash first.

Thanks for the tutorial! My fog lights haven’t worked for over a year now and now I know why and can repair it myself. Keep the TJ vids coming!

Great video, made a possibly confusing install go off without a hitch. Thanks!

wwwCARSSUCKcom says:

Yeah, they are like half the price w/o the fog lamp switch. Be careful to get the one you need.

hey good news, I just got the part for a great deal on ebay, this sellar, aspen_auto_parts has the multi function switch, but I did not get the fog lights on it, it is without fog lights

I hope this helps all of you out there

Yes, I could see that, but good like figuring out which wires to tap on that connector. Maybe you can find a better diagram than I had, but I was not having much luck. I tried to find them just to check the switch for continuity and eventually just gave up and bought a switch.

Good info and quality production on the vid. Thanks! Foglights never worked, from the day I bought it off the first owner. Problem that I am hearring is the that these switches go very frequently. Thinking of buying a simple toggle switch for the foglights and mounting it over on that side of the steering wheel. Would be cheaper and sounds like it would last longer.

wwwCARSSUCKcom says:

Yeah, it’s so easy once you see it, huh?

Thank you!!! This was exactly what I need to know 🙂

Good point. I didn’t even try the junk yard. I just bought a new Duralast one at AutoZone. According to AZs web site it doesn’t even work on the Liberty or Cherokee, so I am going to say it is not likely on other vehicles.

do you know if this part Mopar Part # 5016709AD is on other vehicles, because I won’t find a jeep wrangler in the junk yard.

wwwCARSSUCKcom says:

Yeah, you gotta love the TJ for simplicity. I don’t know if there is anything on that Jeep so complicated the average Joe can’t fix it.

Thank you for posting this awesome video. I had my mind set to take my 05 wrangler to the mechanic, but your video changed that when I saw how easy it was. My switch was out also but now I have my fog lights back. Well done, and thanks for the video.

2000 Jeep Cherokee. Headlights only working part time. High beam always if pull back on switch. Looks like turn signal switch replacement might be the answer. Appears to be same set up as yours. Well done video.
