I would not replace it with a fiberglass tube. They suck!! It is not original in the least. You might as well have a DJ. The resale value of a fiberglass suck is in the cellar for good reason.
I knew a fellow in Halifax MA a few years ago that built a whole replica body (not hood) out of 16 gauge steel sheet..!.. It was cool.. and solid.. He said he was tired of the rust..
You might want to look at a complete new tub. You can get them make of fiberglass. Depending on how much it’s gonna cost you to do it your way (I did a 1977 CJ7 years ago, and wished I had just replaced the tub.) Depending on the tub, averages are likely around the $2,000.00 mark for decent ones.
Notice the way the door is shaped on the CJ5. Then on the CJ7 and you’ll see the difference. I think the CJ7 is a tad longer too. I like the look of a CJ5 best, but they’re kind of harder to get in and out of with the way the door is shapped..
I’m just curious, but what are the main differences between a jeep CJ7 and CJ5? They look like the same exact jeep to me. Awesome time lapse of the welding work, that’s good stuff!
man you must be getting a lot of use from your plasma cutter and wire welder you will be good at wire welding after this is done .But how are you handeling having the right part to put in no coke boxes or misc sheet metal man i hope this dose not rune you for working on the hot rod but it is lookin good

I knew it. There’s two of you. Poor, poor Trish.
If I had $2k I’d pour a concrete floor and build a new garage. Heck on spendin’ that kind of money I can fix myself.. hahaha.
MrPeek,I`ve seen people put the roll bar in and they run a tab from the quarter panel (Next to the striker) to the roll bar super strong.
Thats pretty good, Mines only 12. :( Oh.. well it’s better then nothin.
It looks alot bigger with that extra 3feet.

need to get yourself a spot weld cutter,,cut out the spotwelds and the old panels will come right out,,just a thought.
reckon your tryin’ to get the jeep done before the blizzards start rollin in? That why your not working on Betsy?
Yea, there is that. I’ll get a good night’s sleep before I move on..
Don’t you go and over work your thinker and hurt sompin’. 1974vegahatchback needs at least one clear mind to help him out of his scrapes.
Not yet…
15 feet..
those white walls and wheels sure look good on the rat rod.
No breakfast nook?

How wide is your shop?
The jeep looks like it comin along good, keep at it.
You already have the whole panel, might as well replace the whole panel. Save the old one to use for patches when the new one rusts out…
keep on thinking…
