If you want to skip right to the new Flowmaster American Thunder install, go to 3:21
This 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon edition or JK is the new Autoedit daily driver and camping/adventure rig!
Come along for the first drive video and I’ll tell you my basic plans for the Jeep. It’s going to stay fairly simple and aimed more towards what is somewhat practical and fun. No 40″ monster mud tires or anything like that going on here…I still need to commute to the office and make long freeway drives in this thing.
The first modification on the Jeep is to change the stock exhaust to the new all 409 Stainless Steel American Thunder Series Cat Back exhaust from Flowmaster Mufflers.
Watch the video for the before and after sound improvement!
For the friends of Large Marge (the Autoedit 73 Mustang Project) this Jeep is just my daily driver like my old Grand Cherokee and will not get in the way of building Ol’ Marge.
Thanks for watching and don’t forget to SUBSCRIBE AND SHARE THIS VIDEO!
I have a question for anyone who has this same exhaust. I have the same rubicon Unlimited as Jason, and have purchased and installed the exact same exhaust. I'm completely stock, just as in this video. If anyone has this setup, my question is are any of you rubbing your exhaust on the rear sway bar? If so, could it be possible to shim the sway bar mounting location on the frame to achieve a greater distance between the exhaust pipe in the sway bar? Jason, I would be curious if you ran into this issue with yours. I understand by now your rear sway bar has been relocated a great distance and obviously not an issue now, but when you were stock.
Did you have to trim the pipes at all? I'm installing now and it's not lining up that the back. About 2-3" off.
I can't find the kit p/n for this set-up on Flowmaster's website. Can you help with this??
What are those blocks that you have your Jeep up on?
I love it so much This is what I've been looking for!! Thanks my dude.
I have always been leery about putting exhaust on a V6 because they sometimes get really tinny and raspy. I think that is a horrible sound. This 3.6L actually sounds pretty good. I have a 2016 Sahara Unlimited that I think I need to get a new exhaust for!!
Great video… I just purchased the same exhaust for my 2016 JKU… One question… Did you really need the ramps, or did you find the extra lift was more helpful in putting things together? Thanks for posting this along with the other vids… Very helpful and shows what to encounter when attempting. BTW, please don't refer to the Jeep as a car. 😉 lol
I'm curious how the wire loom for the hitch is holding up? Any melting?
huh, it has the willys edition print on the rims lol 0:22
nice job bro …how much money Theis
I've watched all the videos up to the six pack shocks you put on this jeep. What would you estimate you have put into this jeep since you bought it ?
If you can , give a break down of self installed price and estimated installed of everything you have done including the 37" tires.
I like the build of this jeep and I'm considering a new 2017 Rubicon.
The other thing that came to mind is , since you had beefed up tie rod ends and entire suspension and put up the Rubicon suspension for sale. Would you go back and buy a cheaper model jeep since you upgraded the already beefed up Rubicon suspension ???
I spoke to a complete jeep remodeling garage , and they advised buying a jeep wrangler or sport and building it up , as opposed to buying a Rubicon and then building it up since suspension is going to be changed. Thanks , hope you can shed some light on my concerns and choices.
Sounds good. Like the new found clearance
Damon Ramsey is exactly right…NEVER refer to a Jeep Wrangler as a car!
How's this exhaust holding up? An update vid would be interesting….wink wink 🙂
I own an automatic (I'm 6'4" all legs sadly), so I'm curious is there any point in me getting this exhaust? Awesome vids btw
Props for the 3.6 over the 3.8
Sounds great! I went with a Spintech muffler on my 4.0L and I absolutely love it! Of course I hallowed at my cat to help it breathe a little better. I'm honestly surprised how good yours sounds though, great video!
Did you have any rattle noise problems? I installed the same kit and it rattles on the rear bar
Now it sound wayyyyy better
I've got a flowmaster 40 series custom exhaust on my 16 JK and I'm happy with it. The exhaust has a nice tone not a hot rod but sporty. I did notice a slight loss of torque in the low range of the rpms which I'm not happy about but it does pull better in the higher ranges.
JASON LEWIS DOESNT SHOW ALL OF THE STEPS IN HIS VIDEOS CAUSING AN EXTRA HOUR OF WORK TIME THAN WHAT HE SAYS.
Don't waste your time removing the skid plate, it's pointless.
A) He doesn't show the removal, which isn't as easy as he says. BRING YOUR SAWZALL AND WD40 all BOLTS AND hangers
B) He doesn't show you that you have to REMOVE OR LOWER THE REAR SWAY BAR TO INSTALL THE TIP.
C) install all of the rubber hangers ON THE FLOWMASTER PIPES BEFORE INSTALLING ON THE JEEP.
D) He quickly skips over which hanger to use for 2 or 4 door and doesn't show which one he uses. He uses the Rear hanger post for the 4 door and the included rubber hanger and FRONT POST is for the 2 door.
YOUR WELCOME.
Says he's going to keep the build pretty "practical"… a few videos later tears off fenders, cuts body and shoves 37's on an unlifted jeep and goes off-roading haha! I can't blame you though I'm dealing with those same urges right now as I just bought my first Wrangler a few weeks ago. Sub'd.
It's a Jeep not a car.
Hi there , i wanted to ask you what Exhaust system do you recommend for Jeep JKU 4 door 2014 with Hemi 6.4L engine with 3" exhaust, if its flowmaster muffler , what will be the right part number for it ?
