Installing my new Quadratec Receiver Hitch was an absolute breeze, and was one of the easiest installs I have ever done on a vehicle. I truly hope the video does it justice! Enjoy!

hitch for jeep wrangler

I installed one of the JK receiver hitches on my JL this evening. I picked it up off of eBay for $36 (no wiring harness). It's a 15 minute install, but ended up taking me 1.25 hours and 3 beers because I couldn't find the 3/4" closed end wrench that I needed and eventually just gave up and ended up using an adjustable end wrench. My hitch was not as tight fitting as the one you had there. There was about 1/8" of slack between the plate of the mounting plate of the receiver and the crossmember on the JL. It did not come with any instructions. It came with 4 large flat washers and I was not sure whether it expected them to be placed between the cross member and one of the mounting plates or if they were supposed to be used between the rear mounting plate and the head of the bolt like you would normally use a flat washer. I chose the latter and just tightened the bolts down to the point where the plates eventually contracted around the crossmember of the JL.

One thing that I did notice that was a bit strange though was that the receiver hitch had a threaded hole in the bottom of the receiver tube and it came with a short (probably about 1") bolt to go in there. I'm not sure what that is for though. To keep the receiver hitch from rattling, perhaps?

Wish I watched this before buying a hitch without the weld…

No need to drop the bumper?

Connor Moriarty says:

What size torque wrench did you use? 1/2 inch?

Dude, your Video convinced me to buy this Hitch Kit. I just installed it today and both of your Videos was extremely helpful! Thank You so much posting these 2 Videos. I did have to use a Rubber Mallet to get it aligned.

Just installed the Quadratec hitch today on my JK, It went in very easy using a rubber mallet. The welded nut make the install very easy and was the main reason I went with the Quadratec Hitch. Thanks for doing the video.

Sean Xu says:

Got the hitch, but the hitch was toooooo tight, it does not look like that easy as what all other video showed. probably try again, if it is not working, will return it back

Daniel Tojcic says:

That's an amazing deal – plug and play solution, definitely worth it

Ezzak says:

which hitch is this. I like it. its looks very simple to do. even thought I don't think I will be towing anything I would love to have it

Thanks for this video and the wiring one too. I purchased the receiver hitch and installed it today. I was glad you had recommended the rubber mallet. I needed it. Mine was not super easy to install. One of the pre-drilled holes, or else the alignment of one bolt on the receiver hitch, was not quite right. I got the first 3 bolts in but had trouble with the last. I took them all back out, and started with the troublesome bolt first. With some work, I was finally able to get all 4 in. The wiring video was particularly helpful. Thanks again.
