Jeep JL/JT DASH PANEL REMOVAL – How To Remove and Replace

Jeep JL/JT DASH PANEL REMOVAL – How To Remove and Replace

In this video we show you all the steps to remove and replace the Jeep Wrangler JL or Jeep Gladiator JT Dash Panels. We chose to swap the factory Gray Dash Panels with the Red Rubicon Dash Panels in the Mojito Jeep. We were disappointed when our Rubicon did not come from the factory equipped with the red dash so we added it ourselves. This install is considered a Medium Difficulty install and we are providing this video to help you with the installation process. Attempt this installation at your own risk. The process includes; Battery Disconnection, HVAC Panel Removal, Radio and Bezel Removal, Glove Box Removal, Dash Panel Removal, Passenger Air Bag Removal

We recommend picking up a set of extra plastic bezel clips in case you lose or break any during the dash removal. You can get them from Amazon here: https://amzn.to/2LTJKOQ

Big thanks to David (@AwesomeBlueJL) for his help with advice on this project!

This is only our 2nd time trying out our new Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark II Camera, and I noticed that on some of the footage the camera was having a hard time focusing. I apologize, and if you have any pointers please comment below.

Richard Coyne says:

good job on the video. It's always nice to watch a video like that instead of taking a dash apart blind. There's no worse feeling than pulling on panels and not knowing for sure if you got all the bolts undone. A flex head ratchet 1/4" drive would have worked for the bolts behind the grab handle. I use them all the time and have them in all the sizes, good to have in your tool box. I'm glad my dash on my JL came in red so I don't have to do that lol

Mookey Payzan says:

Great job guys! Getting ready to do this, much needed info! Thanx again!!

Josh Boyd says:

Do you guys have any videos on how to replace the dome light switch? (The little knobs to the left of the steering wheel) I was hoping to see how to pull that off on this video but it seems like you did everything but that one. The front of mine snapped off so I got a replacement from eBay but I have no clue how to go about getting the current one out.

Dominic Danno says:

I would like my red one out. Do you do any installs for the public? How much would you charge?

ROBERT Todisco says:

great thorough video. well done.

Jeep Talk Show says:

I like it, but too much work for a color change.

projekt6 says:

First, thanks for the walkthrough. Second, I love the fact that you both did the video together and swapped back and forth explaining the steps. ๐Ÿ™‚

Daniel Wells says:

Thank you so much for doing this great video. I swapped my red rubicon dash panels for the black "leather" with red stitching panels for the Gladiator last night and it couldn't have gone any easier thanks to the guidance from your video. Start to finish (not including the 30 minute wait time on the battery) it was about an hours worth of work. Like others have mentioned, I think it definitely helped having everything warm — it was ~80F in East Tennessee yesterday.

Edwin Hewson says:

Why would you leave the panels red? The panels should be Mojito like the paint on the Jeep. Just my opinion but I most definitely do not like the red.

seanflahockey says:

Gosh I want the red dash out and replace with a silver or black dashboard. I'm tired of Jeep throwing these red dashboards in anything that doesn't have saddle tan seats. I wish they would change it up more for other colors.

Michael Rodriguez says:

Question, so I was replacing the factory speakers on my jl and now the push to start button does not work, I push it and nothing on the display however I can press on rhe brake and the display will light up. It seems itโ€™s only the push to start button. Help??
