Ricky Sikes says:

Going out to do my Cherokee now.

Brandon Graham says:

Great man. I’m bout to re- upholster my headliner, this really helped me

Eushawn20 says:

Great video man. I’ll be using this as my ‘how to’ video when I redo mine next week.

Tastauer says:

Very clean work!

Gary T says:

hit up a JY and look for a black xj with gold colored rims, should be on there. i dont know where the sensor is though for the display. it could be anywhere, but it picks up the ourside temp so i dono.

Caleb Nestor says:

… well his is just the regular cherokee just saw that.

Caleb Nestor says:

Mine is a 96 Classic just like this guy in the video. Yea they had a lot of options for the cherokee too. I was looking at the book and i wish mine had the temp display.. i wonder if i can find one on ebay and install it, ill prob look into that.

Gary T says:

ok well the same harness plugs into my temp display, and my compas thing. im guessing its used for anything mounted up in that area. but as for a keyless door opener, i have a 1990 limited, and it was loaded all the way, but didnt have that feature. anyway, its all good

Caleb Nestor says:

No its the keyless entry sensor. To where you can lock/unlock your doors with a remote.

Gary T says:

the wire up by the rearview mirror is for the temp and compass cluster you may not have the cluster but thats what those wires are for

Franki Steuwer says:

Just stuck some camo headliner in my XJ Today!

DESERTPEG says:

I learned a lot. Thanks!!! I also need to do this to my jeep.

minnpam says:

Thanks so much for the video. I have to do the same thing to my Jeep.

Robert Scott Bugbee says:

Probably not. And it would make a very bad mess. I would get a headliner from a junk yard and start over.

While the headliner is out paint the roof interior with lizard skin It will help a lot with radiant heat in the summer (seriously). A lot of work but worth the comfort.

Also get a thicker fabric so glue can not soak through.

Herculiner imho is not a good interior product. Paint herculiner on something and test some resin to be sure.

str8haze says:

Hi, i used herculiner(bedliner) on my headliner and it looks terrible in my opinion. I want to redo it with fabric like this video, would the fiberglass resin stick to the herculiner? Do you just brush on the resin? What adhesive works best? Thanks

Robert Scott Bugbee says:

After you scrape- use fiberglass resin on the the surface. It soaks in and anchors all the loose foam. Then the adhesive works 10xs better. Did it on my 91 2 door XJ (manual trans)

Have a garage you can work in and leave the door open the fumes will knock you out.

Also buy 2 spray cans of glue you can take the second one back if you don not need it. If you do need it- It screws things up to leave for the store in the middle while glue sets.

TheMainMan318 says:

the “camera” was for a key fob for keyless entry if im correct. my dad had a 91 and i broke his key fob when i was a kid

Daniel Miller says:

Great video. Fixing the headliner was the first affordable thing to pop into my head when I bought mine. I don’t if the factory stuff was glued in with Elmer’s or what but good Lord is it atrocious. What happened to this kid’s white jeep from the grill painting video?

Chris Smith says:

Rockdawn is correct. The dark bubble center front of the headliner is the ir keyless entry receiver.

chadwika1 says:

Thanks! Huge help…I was about to try to remove the foam while it was still installed. hahahaha Much better!

rockdoon2 says:

That ” camera thing” near the front is an ir receiver for keyless entry… The it ones didn’t work very well though lol

pspking597 says:

I’m doing basically the same but on a diff SUV (01 Range Rover) And this def helped a bit. Thanks.

Chris Viola says:

thanks

james blackburn says:

i have that camera thing in mine too and laughed when you said you had no idea what it ever was because i have no idea either. im redoing my headliner now

bmiller6977 says:

Lauralietx says:

Juan Arceo says:

Hows the headliner holding up so far?

chrisrocks02 says:

Great video! looks nice I’m about to do this to my Jeep XJ soon.

Adom says:

Looks nice. New to Jeeps with an XJ I just picked up. Not near as pretty as yours, but figured I’d drive it for awhile and see if it’s worthy of some restoring. The headliner is definitely a place to start.

carpiste2008 says:

Very nice :D I m doing it on my cherok 😛

TheXJthatCould says:

Lol I was gonna replace mine, instead I just ripped it out and left it metal, I’m thinking about putting some insulation in its place for warmth while camping

PaYankee99 says:

At Iswas: It’s a pita

lsw says:

Nice job. The headliner on my 96 Cherokee is starting to sag in a few places. I figure another year or so and it will be at the point where I want to replace it. I’d like to see you moving the headliner board in and out of the vehicle. Any complications with that?
