William Jefferson says:

in after hitting a pot hole ?

T1MMY27 says:

how did you get that green connecter to move out of the way in mine its
right in the way and won’t budge. help would be greatly apreciated

JEEP2001MRED says:

yes change the switch.

awadbab says:

I have similar problem. I thought it is the resistor. I get one from the
junk yard still didn’t work. Do you think next step to change the switch?
The blower worked when I hooked dc to it directly. That is why I thought
the resistor . Now I am thinking the switch. I would appreciate you reply
to my question.Thanks

Ruben Garcia says:

where did you ordered that part

KJamesSr says:

I cant find that switch part anywhere. Where did you find it and whats it
called?

Dohn Joe says:

plastic in cars and mobile phones = designed to FAIL. that’s what japanese
and chinese industry got us into. all that while destroying sturdy, well
designed, working older cars in ‘cash for clunkers’ genius program. why? to
keep rolling a artificial, sick economy. 30 bucks. yeah…

Terry campany says:

thank you you saved me alot of work get the heater switch panel off 12/23/12

Dave K says:

The reason things (wires, switches, resistors, etc..) melt on these jeeps
is usually because the blower motor is not working effectively. To
compensate it draws more current than these parts can handle and melt down
occurs somewhere along the chain. Just replacing the bad part is a band aid
on a bigger problem. Hopefully you do not have a fire in the future.

xmBill says:

Looks like you just went through what I did about a year ago. My switch had
heated up so much until the contact parts inside the switch didn’t make
contact causing the loss of fan speed control. Pretty easy replacement. I
did put a lot of die-electric contact grease.to hopefully prevent it from
happening again.. So far so good. Now I have a problem with the heat output
only getting warm. Not heating up enough although the blower seems to be
blowing well. Any Ideas?. Thanks for the video.

fjc81 says:

Shouldve started by removing everything first! still didn’t explain how 2
remove the dashboard panel??

jennyfur169 says:

Just did the job, learned what to do and not to do from your vid, thanks
much! I bought a rubber tipped plier to pull off the knobs, worked great,
no marks left. Getting the fan/temp/position plate off took a bit of very
gentle persuasion with a flat head and finger tips. Thanks again!

This was by far the best genuine video of a self help video. Thanks.

DonnaEV says:

Since I am having the same problem I am going to try this myself since I
cant afford to take it in. Thanks! Very helpful…

Jiffypistol says:

I’m on my 4th one.

Brother Mike says:

I’m getting ready to replace my switch. Thanks for the video. It will help
greatly.

waketime1111 says:

Thank you – this was a big help to me to know how to get in to replace the
part. It was easier than I expected. The new switch was about $20 online.
Fixed my problem.

Mememememe says:

The one you got at the junkyard could have been broken too… that problem
is very common for jeeps 97 to 2006… get a new one you could see a better
difference (they are abou 25-30$ on eBay

Spooner4040 says:

Ok, I have a ’99 cherokee and my blower works on all speeds but the fan
slows down and sometimes off. I’ll open the hood and wiggle the blower
motor plug connector and it will come back on…so im thinking this is a
blower motor plug problem. I will check the resistor though.
