How To Install a Tie Rod – Synergy Tie Rod for a Jeep Wrangler

In this video we show you how to install a Synergy Tie Rod on a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited JK part # 8002. We had notice some knocking on and off road recently and after troubleshooting all our suspension we realized our tie rods and drag links were worn and in need of replacement.

I'm sooo over Synergy's products. I ran 3 sets of their ball joints which all failed within 11 months, since moved on to Dynatrac & issue free going on 3 yrs. Tierod failed twice until they remedied that with new boots & wasn't long before that flopped around as well, I then had issues w/ bushings & joints on their drag link & track bar…all swapped out for YetiXD & couldn't be happier. I hate sounding like a Synergy basher, if that was the case I wouldn't have ran them yo begin with but all the issues I've mentioned have been well documented on various forums & acknowledged by Synergy. I hope they've stepped things up since but I've been soured to the point of no return

When you doing the drag link video? Also any plans of coming to Arizona soon. We would like to meet up maybe have you do a rig walk around and a trail ride. We are trying to grow our YouTube subscribers Az Westside Wheelers 4×4 Crew and I like the way you do things and great videos.

Joe Yell says:

Great videos as always. Keep up the good work

CASCADE BIGFOOT says:

You didn't need to cut the old tie rod to get that bracket off. That pipe wrench and crescent wrench you just slightly bend the end of the bracket apart and it come right off. The end will push back together when you bolt it back on. Nice jeep and good channel Thanks for the video. I am also a retired Navy CPO I was a PRC. Thank you for your service.

Bought the Synergy Tie-Rod and Drag-Link + Dust-Boot… Where did you get the CLAMP to hold the Steering-Dampner?? Is that the stock OME part??

A68170 says:

Sorry I know I'm bugging you but I really do appreciate your feed back on my questions My new Synergy tie rod and drag link should be in this week. I also ordered the clamp. I have an old man emu steering stabilizer, with a relocation bracket that puts the shock up higher. Right now it's attached to the original stock clamp. I was looking at the synergy clamp I got in today and I noticed it will put the shock on more of an angle instead of straight across like it is now, do you think that will be a problem if the shock is angled. Thanks for your feed back I'm new at this and figuring it out as I go.

A68170 says:

How much play does the tie rod have to have in order to say they are bad. My tie rod will move when you grab a hold of it and rotate it back and forth but my neighbor says it's not bad however someone else said it was bad so I'm confused as to who to listen to. Can you give me a better understanding about loose verses bad please. Thanks By the way I bought Synergy tie rod and drag link because of your video Thanks…I'm still changing them out and after some research I found Synergy was a very good product and within my budget.

Love the video!! Going to look for a SYNERGY replacement on the OFFROAD ADDICTION website right now..

4everjeeper says:

finally got my tie rod and drag link from synergy on, wow what a difference, really tightened things up, I didn't do the high steer I elected to keep drag link in stock location

Rubicon Unlimited says:

can't wait for my tierod to wear out ;p nice upgrade!

Joe Robinson says:

Great video, in the process of upgrading right now, Track Bar and Drag Link….this is great to view before you start tearing things apart!!! Will be starting tomorrow on my 2013, decided to go with Rubicon Express. Hopefully my install goes as smooth as yours, thx for the video!!

4everjeeper says:

well dang, after watching your video I went out to check mine and mine are banging just like yours, might explain the death wobble ive been getting lately, gonna order this unit for my JKU tonight

das hasguns says:

Could you please link the grease gun and extra fitting if it was needed to grease the drag link up please.

Cesar Beltran says:

That's the first thing that I replaced on my other jeep. And that's what I get for going Thru Q's line.

mauiman52 says:

Brad, no issues with the backspacing of your stock rims? Synergy recommends at least 4.75" of BS? I went from Rock Krawler Tie Rod to Synergy because the RK wanted at least 4.5" of BS which meant that it would be troublesome to go through the squeeze (to me…). Now with the Synergy Tie Rod I can use 4.75 BS and the squeeze is just doable.

The Bearded Jeeper says:

Haha I removed my steering stabilizer the same way. Then like a month later I just took it off and did with out it. Going with synergy for the drag link too? That's what I did and you won't be disappointed. Great video

Justin King says:

you did the exact same thing I did. you noticed your tie rod was bad on one or both ends, replaced it… and then noticed the drag link was also trashed lol!! so i threw on a synergy drag link too!

matan ram says:

Was kinda hoping you'd get the yeti drag link with griffin attenuator
