What is this-the hillbilly perspective of working on your car

alien4fish says:

you Get LOLZ for hillbilly ingenuity!

jess tineo says:

when you installed the mount the plastic washer should be on top so that
the antenna it self is not grounded only the shield of the wire.. wonder
what happen when he key up…

lac365 says:

you clearly have very limited knowledge on this subject. the cb frequencies
have a wavelength of 11m. 102″ is 1/4 wave. you might want to do some
research before you start spouting off garbage.

wrestlemaniac202 says:

actually the more expensive the coax cable is the better the cable is and
that is coming from a bunch of amateur radio operators

Ahmed Almoalla says:

sorry but its very bad idea , go to google then type cherokee cb antenna
mount you well find millions of better easier cheaper whys to mount your
antenna .

Gary T says:

thanks for the info.

wrestlemaniac202 says:

mostly depends on what frequency your operating on, in this case would 11
meters. anything else like the amateur radio frequencies, gotta get a
better coax rated for that stuff

james colston says:

YES! i saw in drill into the jeep i was like NOOO………

Gary T says:

all the shit ive done with that old jeep a sealed up hole in it is the
least of its worries

William Reed says:

Did it not cross your mind to buy a PL259 connector and just pass the cable
through a small hole and wire the plug on once it was through? Worst case,
cut the cable and re-joint it inside the car. Digging that big assed hole
out of the bodywork was just plain daft. Also, grommets. These are good to
line sharp edged metal holes to stop the wire chaffing and shorting out.
they also have something of a water seal protection going on if you get
them sized correctly.

MXGoons3 says:

lol wavelength is like 36 or 35 feet for a full wavelength

Gary T says:

it still works well, im aware there are a LOT of easy kits, magnets,
clamps, the old xj will not miss the steel i removed, and the mount is very
very secure and durable, which is what i wanted. ive had many clamps, fail,
and magnets fail, when roving in the woods with a whip. IF it was a pretty
truck, id have went with a non agressive mounting system,

Gary T says:

yea 408 inches , im human

Gary T says:

1 i had what i had because its what i had the cash for,..2 cutting the
cable jacks up the ground, and can end up frying the finals..3 grommets are
great if you have them, i used shoogoo and it doesnt leak, nor had the
cable even moved much less chaffed. Bottom line to all you na sayers, in a
perfect world id be rockin a brandnew xj, and id have the best of the best
install for a cb. on another note, make a video and SHOW me how to do it
right, or quitley go troll elsewhere

Gary T says:

not ALWAY true, but in general youre right, so go buy me some baddass coax
and ill make a new video using it.
