switch to heim joints on your track bar

JHartColorado says:

What over – the – knuckle kit is that? My jeep was bought knowing there was
a wobble, guy says ball joints, they look pretty good. Has an adjustable
track bar and that lower bolt is fine. Only other things it could be is
there is a slight tear in one of the tie rod ends, alignment (3″ lift was
installed and never aligned) and tire balance right?

CJ Bantam says:

Death wobble.

904PinballZine says:

1%+++ could be a blown out control arm, I had one that was blown to parts
and replaced with a new after market set.

Great video, thanks!

thanks for letting us know of the pointing mistake. I am a novice and was
confused at first.

bleepinjeep says:

alright, so its not that I suggest anyone go out and rip theirs off. Its
just that years ago I took mine off and didn’t notice it was gone a bit. I
drove it as a DD for years and had no problems without it… Many others
have as well.

mamiphee says:

THANKS FOR THE INFO!! JUST SAVED MY FAMILY FROM OUR BLEEPIN JEEP ISSUES.

Timothy Wilson says:

I think tire balance as the cause is more than one percent. Most of my
buddies that have low mileage setups who have the problem have fixed it
because I told them to swap tires out from front to back (because the back
can handle out of balanced tires better) or have them get new tires (worn
out tires) or get their tires balanced (lost weights). Just saying. I enjoy
your vids, keep it up.

bleepinjeep says:

yes they could

You sir are a scholar and a gentleman. Thanks for the help!

kent steerwell says:

had the death wobble on a 76 chev pickup, dana 60 axle w 35″ tire, all was
good til i hit a slight bump doing about 30 to 35 mph, then it felt like
the whole front end was comin off the ground…very violent…mine was due
to tire balance, i had both fr tires rebalanced and it was gone…was that
simple, everyone should check balance first

bleepinjeep says:

that was a good imitation of death wobble huh?

J Proctor says:

No, that is open for interpretation. You seem to fit it well.

bleepinjeep says:

the germans call it goodntight. seriously though, I have limited amount of
brain space and dont store that kinda thing. as for advice, watch my videos
if you havent already, I have vids on almost all of those…

bleepinjeep says:

hmm, does it say what they look and sound like?

akata69 says:

I remember my 1st death woBBle as if it was yesterday. Me and my buddy
installed a 3″ lift on my 05 unlimited. Later that night I leave for work,
as soon as i hit 40mph this ungodly shaking began which is followed up by
probly the most used vocal reaction “Oh SHiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiT” The
problem: my buddy forgot to tighten the bolt down as mentioned in this
video. Took me 3 days and 18 death woBBles to finally figure it out. only
happened when i approached 40mph

bleepinjeep says:

glad I could help!

bleepinjeep says:

cool, thanks for the info!

bleepinjeep says:

sure, you probably have one of these things going wrong with your jeep too,
make sure to check out part 2 for other things to look for.

Daniel Donnelly says:

i would just like to say thank you for helping me fix my death wobble
problem. when it started i brought it into the dealership and they said it
was due to the dampener being worn out. I got that replaced then shortly
after i could not go past 60 mph without the wobble instantly starting. i
watched this video after. did some inspections of the bolts myself and one
was loose where they had to replace the part. i tightened it went out for a
test run and drove well over 60mph and had no problems.:)

You sound like George H.W. Bush

rizikranger says:

Well, i’m not sure what the best brand is. I am pretty new to wheeling. I
love it, but the jeep i bought was already modified. I just cannot find it
online for sale, (the bushings). Do i need to call them or is there a
better brand?

Jacob Portner says:

I have a question, my 99 cherokee xj has a 4.5 inch suspension lift with
33’s at about 50 or 60 it strts to wobble an shake, i checked all the
connections in the track bar an all the others an they seem to be tight,
the only thing that has play in it is the quick disconnect rods on each
side, could that contribute to the shaking?

A. Lee says:

Very Helpful.. Thanks!

glad I could help! thanks for subscribing!

hyperactivecalvino says:

My 01 Jeep Cherokee XJ sat for around 3 years and when we tried starting it
obviously it wouldn’t start right away, dead battery etc…. We had to use
a tractor to get the wheels to roll out of the ground where they formed
into the yard. When i would go around 50 MPH it would start jumping and
wobbling all over the road and after getting new tires never had a problem
since, so check your tires people!

bleepinjeep says:

Glad I could help, thanks for subbing!

Nathan Fisher says:

it lookes like a board with wheels on each corner

BugCrush3r says:

Tip: You should remove the extended pitman arm. Its important that the drag
link and track bar be as parallel as possible. The more its off like yours
is, the more bump steer your gonna get. Take a string from the bolt hole to
bolt hole on the track bar and compare that line with a string between bolt
hole to bolt hole on the drag link.

You are the fucking man.

rhysboi69 says:

I think I might have the same problem with my wrangler. It wobbles a lot
but its only when I hit a decent pothole or a rough surface at speed. Could
it be the same thing?

bleepinjeep says:

whats a creeper? I’m not sure if that’s good or bad…

Darcell Void says:

I have a ’97 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. I have been experiencing the death
wobble for months. I have gotten an alignment, replaced my tie rod ends and
track bar so far. The track bar was replaced today and 20 minutes after
being back on the road, the wobble was back in action. The auto shop said I
need to replace the drag link also. Do you think this will solve the
problem completely? I am so irritated and feel unsafe on the road with the
wobble.

bleepinjeep says:

when you run tires that are too big like we do then they are bound to go
out faster. And even faster if you play in the mud. Keep them greased and
dry and they should last a bit longer. I just replaced all of mine for the
first time in about 5 years but they were pretty shot.

You Sir are a Real Mechanic My Respects to you!

markjr62292 says:

I noticed you dont have a steering stabilizer shock.. is there a reason for
that?

Casey Reece says:

is that rustys steeering kit how is it on the road and off i have the
rugged ridge kit and it sucks i half to change it all soon

bleepinjeep says:

no, it sounds to me like you just have a regular wobble, not death wobble.
Try checking your alignment, tire balance, driveshaft, and driveshaft
u-joints. Thats where I’d start!

PagingDrFaggot says:

balance your tires dog. i had this “death wobble” and it was no
axle/steering situation. all four of my tires weren’t weighted. so if you
have gotten new tires recently there you go buddy

Ryan Atnip says:

Will tightening the adjustment nut on the box affect the input shaft at all
or is that for totally something different? Thanks!

bleepinjeep says:

is this a body lift for a wrangler I’m assuming??
