Mike Hawk says:

is the death wobble common in grand cherokees (wj)??

Cance Armstrong says:

Could death wobble happen randomly? Or doe something have to be wrong for a
jeep to do this?

Mike S says:

all stock ’94 Jeep Cherokee SE . . and yes I have developed the “death
wobble.” Glad to see videos on the EXACT issue – thanks so much for that.
Found a aftermarket track arm on Amazon and will likely tackle the project
myself very soon now. Don’t know what part of the country u r at
bleepinjeep, but you on the rocking chair so calm and collected is like the
complete opposite of me grabbing the steering wheel and just hoping for
the shakes to subside lol. Thanks again for the vid.

Eric Florence says:

So my gear box is leaking and looks like it may have come apart slightly
after a fender bender I had, could this cause my death wobble?

superlyrical says:

what if there back and forth play and not side ways where the track bar
attaches to the frame on a wj?

Corey Shane Greenfield says:

I achieved the death wobble only after installing a Lockrite by Powertrax
in my 87 xj with CAD only 3 in. lift. also replaced axle u joints… was
fine before… near as I can tell only UCA is loose.. Has anyone achieved
the same problem???

603Motors says:

Great video. Thanks for the help!

bleepinjeep says:

you are the only one man… maybe its time for bigger speakers;)

bleepinjeep says:

hmmm, not sure. I dont know that the steering locking would have anything
to do with death wobble. but for the steering locking try checking your
u-joints, that you arent in 4×4, that your locker is not engaged, that
nothing is binding at full turn, that your steering box is healthy.

bleepinjeep says:

well start with balanced tires for sure. i’m assuming you installed a
suspension lift and it doesnt have a body lift at all? youve got to be
loose somewhere, I’d check and recheck, for the most part, 2″ should adjust
your angles too much to cause death wobble.

bleepinjeep says:

well that certainly cant help things

bleepinjeep says:

No, I do have a power steering pump video.

slicari83 says:

Do you have disc front and rear on your rig? A rear drum to disc conversion
video would be sweet.

Timothy Mlak says:

I’ve been chasing my DW for a few months now. had bad wheel hubs, bad TREs,
a loose frame-side track bar mount, and a broken steering box spacer. Check
my ball joints they’re good. My tires are old and out of balance, and my
steering box has a bit of play in it, the output of the steering box moves
side-to-side a little bit when someone steers it, would tightening the
adjustment stud on the top of the steering box likely solve my problem?
also, my tires are worn to shit and out of balance.

bleepinjeep says:

I’m a bit confused when you say you removed the CV joints. I would say you
are probably mistaken there but I guess it’s possible, but the axleshafts
in part hold the wheel bearings on and without them the hubs will fall
apart. Yes you still have a tie rod. And yes, anyone can be wrong…
finding the cause of death wobble can be pretty hard and most mechanics
dont want to take the time. As mentioned in part 1, most causes of death
wobble I have seen is that hole being wobbled out.

Mauricio Aguilar says:

No man lol it was a compliment. You make it seem so easy 🙂

anthony bargas says:

will having too short of a pitman arm cause death wobble?

Karl Olsen says:

Could also be a frozen steering axle u-jount inside the knuckle when turned
will not return due to rust and the wheel just hops, had this on my 79
F350. THANKS

jregfwer herge says:

hey just wondering is that a rustys steering upgrade if so had a question
did you have any problem with it hitting you diff cover or any thing or did
you have to ajust your steering stops

max imod says:

you best ….its very helpful thanks

Stacey Francis says:

yes we kept the part that holds the wheel hub (the portion that has the
anti-locks. we essentially just took the axle part off and eliminated the
front differential. my friend will be checking the tie rods and the track
bar AGAIN tomorrow. I will have him watch your videos first so he may have
a better idea of the issue. Thank You bunches for having your videos
available. Just 1 more question, is this common in grand cherokee WITHOUT a
lift kit ?

Jake Marshall says:

Great video, mind helping out though? I am getting some wobble at 55 mph,
anything higher or lower and it goes away. 2004 Wrangler with a 2 in Sky
Jacker lift. When I installed the lift just a few days ago, the only thing
that I needed to remove and then put back on that I think lead to the Death
Wobble was the Sway Bar Link on both sides. I removed the bolt and lowered
the axle to remove the springs, jacked the axle back up and re installed
the bolt, and bam death wobble. Please help.

Stacey Francis says:

Hi. I am in serious need of help!!!!! is there a way i can contact you
directly? I was unable to video part 1. I have death wobble and I need
help. I have replace all tires and front end alignment, new bearings, new
shocks, new steering stabilizer. I have also removed the front drive shaft
along with the cv joints. basically is now a rear wheel drive. Please help
before I go broke replacing everything

bleepinjeep says:

that much lift with short arms is going to be hell, your castor anges are
probably all screwed up.

Ever seen a jeep snap a rotor?
