Break Cleaner works just as well. The only problem in my opinion is that break cleaner evaporates quickly, thus you have to use more. I commonly use break cleaner for a lot of metal cleaning, however, in this case scenario, solvent just happened to be easily accessible.
I’ve seen/heard of other people using break cleaner to clean off the gears/inside of the dif… I noticed you didn’t … any reason? Pro’s con’s in your Opinion? Thanks.

Nice review. In my experience if your just going to change out the gear fluid and keep the same cover make sure you can open the fill plug first or you will be screwed like what happend to me. Took the cover off let it drain and put new gasket on it and installed the cover went to take off the fill plug and couldnt remove it. I broke a 9/16 wrench trying to remove it!! Sucked!!
