You think they would use a strong composite not just plastic….

C,mon lets go!

Kasia Rachwal says:

I’m so glad that he points out the two plastic parts that broke on me this
last week. I suppose that means that this happens to all of them – usually
at about the same time.

mapleblackdrums says:

Jeff, I was wondering, are you an automotive teacher or tech? Do you even
do auto work anymore? Your vids have gone from ghost towns to strickly gold
prospecting. just wondering. I had the asumption you lived either in
Arizona or Nevada, but some of your videos refer to you as Minnesota Jeff.

jamesahson3 says:

hi Jeff I recently bought a 04 Liberty and i was just changing the oil for
the first time and i noticed what appeared to be a oil reservoir under the
hood in the back left corner it had a cold fill line is that for coolant?

ArcherAce2 says:

The parts are plastic to keep the weight down and improve fuel mileage.
Thank the government for the ridiculous MPG requirements, not Chrysler.

EurekaRecycler says:

That Jeep sure looks cheap, how long do these radiators last? Thank you

Jeff Hershberger says:

Great video Jeff, one question though. How do I actually remove the fan
assembly? The electric fan motor stopped working on my 2005 3.7L with auto
and AC and I need to replace it. Is it really just as simple as unplugging
it, removing the two bolts at the upper corners and lifting out? Thanks!

Jerry Reyes says:

I found it very easy to take out the radiator on my 2003 Jeep Liberty.
follow these easy steps. 1. Remove (4) torx head screws from grill, pull
grill forward and up to remove. 2. remove (5) 10mm bolts holding on the
cross bar. 3. Slip the yellow ring from around the neck of the windshield
washer tank. 4. Remove (2) 10mm bolts at bumper heigh for the cross bar
vertical support (this holds the hood latch). 5. Work the Cross bar and
hood latch up and away. Keep the cable connected. It’s long enough

Ask Jeff Williams says:

Hi Jeff, That’s pretty much all there is to it as long as you do not have a
mechanical fan as well. Jeff

FDW2010 says:

,Hi thanks for the info. it really made changing the radiator easier,i was
told when you change water pump a refilling coolent make sure their isn’t
any air pockets in the heater core do you know how to fix this problem?

sopinksopinky says:

Thanks for the info. I recently had a quote for the two subjects you
covered; window repair and radiator replacement ( 2002 Jeep Liberty). How
do I get the best deal on replacements with original parts and/or is it
necessary to have original parts?

Ask Jeff Williams says:

Thanks for the great comments. That is a common problem but if you shut
down the engine soon enough you should have no problem. Jeff

CUAUHTLI 5 says:

Great Video and It’s exactly what went wrong with my jeep. Thanks Jeff! Big
fan now! 😉

jabesta0924 says:

How exactly do you remove the radiator on a 2002 jeep grand Cherokee Laredo
4.0 V6 model? My housing on the upper hose is cracked and just started
spitting out coolant onto the engine. How would I go about removing the
shroud with the electric fan an the radiator to replace. And is it possible
to buy a radiator with a metal tank on the sides to avoid this problem
again?

Scott Lichtsinn says:

Go to Steiger Performance and buy a regulator repair kit, replaces the
plastic part with METAL, a regulator is $100+, the kit from Steiger is only
like $80 and its going to last a LIFETIME…

jgrasso44 says:

where is the thermostat on a jeep liberty

Joao Marques says:

Hey Jeff, I have a question…. I’ve been searching YouTube trying to find
a video on replacing the high pressure power steering hose on the 3.7L 04
Liberty. No luck… So my question is what needs to be removed to get the
hose? The end that connects to the rack&pinion looks pretty straight foward
but the end that connects to the pump i do not think i can get a wrench to
it. I’m thinking that i have to move the fan to give me space and the
pulley on the PS pump.

badmotorscooter1000 says:

Your right those clips and rubber guard are a bitch. I would be nice if you
showed us how to remove the clips and boots. All you did was told us the
obvious and something we already know thats why im here. To see how to do
it. Next time roll tape while your actually doing the lesson not after.

ComradeCrusty says:

Thanks for this write-up. I’m about to go tackle this job, relieved to find
it sounds rather easy, albeit messy. (who likes the smell of coolant?) I
wanted to ask you, did yours crack on the drivers side plastic tank, right
at the top where there seems to be a fail point, even on this junkyard
piece I just bought? Thanks again.

Fred Locke says:

There are kits out there to replace the plastic piece on your regulator to
metal. Makes it pretty much bulletproof.

Olddog231 says:

I completely changed my radiator on my 2004 liberty and didnt have to do
all was shown here. I didnt have to remove front grille as shown here.
removed fan and then radiator left air condensor alone and replace with new
radiator no problems. As good as this vid is look over your job and what
has to be done then proceed. Your vid is good by the way

Jerry Reyes says:

I might add, that it took me less than an hour to disassemble the grill,
cross member and remove the radiator. It took me longer to get the
radiator. and it was an hour away.

Kim Dahle says:

Very helpful and to the point. Thanks so much for posting. Funny that you
mention the windows. I’ve replaced 3 already. First time was a pain as I
initially put the hose on backwards. HA! But having to do it 2 more times I
now can do it in 15 to 20 minutes. Oh thanks Chrysler for being not so
customer orientated when you made the ’04 3.7L Liberty. Sheesh. I’ll be
watching your videos Jeff anytime I need to work on my Jeep.

Phillip Adkins says:

Hello sir. I recently took my jeep liberty 3.7L 2002 in for overheating
problems. I was told the radiator needed replacing and that it was going to
take 3 hours to get it switched out because a part of the cooling system
was attached to it – i’m not sure what exactly they meant by that. They DID
say that they were going to have to put some more freon in it afterwards.
Is all this plausible? How likely is it that an entire radiator needs
replacing as opposed to just some leaky hose???

John Dice says:

hey jeff i have a 04 jeep liberty , i was changing the plugs on the jeep
and leaned on the tube by it and broke it .,, it the vacuum tube running
across the top to the backside of the driver side back engine. what is the
part called ,,, or part number ? thanks john

John Stubblefield says:

can the use of the wrong coolant cause the radiator to leak.

joe frank says:

Is a small radiator leak on a 2003 jeep liberty 3.7 a big probelm? Can I
use a radiator stop leak in it?

keeriejoe says:

Is there any way to test that electric fan to see if it is working ?

Ask Jeff Williams says:

Actually I am an ASE Certified Master and I give technical advice when
asked. We still turn wrenches and we shifted over to Gold prospecting
because people ( myself included ) would rather find Gold then old Ghost
Towns but don’t get me wrong I still love to venture out to some of the old
forgotten places. We live in Nevada but venture to AZ a lot. My earlier
vids are with one of my good friends and his name is Jeff as well and he is
from Minnesota so we titled it that way. Jeff

badace32 says:

I have a 2002 Jeep Liberty and I my radiator fan will not shut off when I
turn my vehicle off…I pulled the fuse and it shut off…Next thing I was
going to do was to pull the relay, but I can’t find it…Can you tell me
where it is?

Leonard Holifield says:

Nice video, but not very helpful to me. Started out like I was going to
learn how to remove my Jeeps radiator “Step-By-Step” but you simply gave a
general overview and then started talking about the “WINDOWS”! Thanks Anyway

Chris Oliphant says:

was wondering if you had footage of you putting in the new radiator? woild
love to see how step by step

stag15m4 says:

Jeff, How does one finagle the radiator BACK into the 2001 Grand Cherokee
4.0?!?!? I can get it out with not too much problem, but now it won’t go
back in. Any insight? Thanks

Jerry Reyes says:

I want to add some more.. Stay on Topic dude. If your going to post a video
on “how to change a radiator”, show the people how. You only showed a few
seconds about the clips holding the condenser to the radiator. and what the
heck does plastic clips in a door have to do with changing a radiator?

antharding says:

thumbs up if you think this guy hates plastic 🙂

MaxCarnage1 says:

You failed to mention that you need to remove the mechanical fan.

redsb1337 says:

wow that was exactly was was wrong w my jeep window and radiator good video
jeff! 😀

joe bloiw says:

No offense, bt I’m looking to see how to replace the radiator, not hear
about how they’re made from cheap plastic.
