@vantagetes well im hoping mainly for a grader but i will settle for an
excavator. Here in Prince George ive been told its hard for companies to
take new guys on graders because they don’t want to train a new guy so
thats why i want a job in alberta where the companies are bigger and
probably easier to get on to. Ive always been interested in graders and the
sheer amount of what they can do plus the challenge involved just suits my
personality.

Fiend2011 says:

What do you think of Olds College for heavy equipment operators seeing how
you are in alberta

Fiend2011 says:

@vantagetes So what do you think of olds college for heavy equipment
because i heard its goos but i want a second opinion seeing how you are a
supervisor in alberta. Also i live in prince George BC so i want to know
its a good school before i get back from Afghanistan

NiftyTan says:

idk where to tighten the belt at

vantagetes says:

@Graveltrucking No…. god no not on the Ford SD’s.

NoTellinMan says:

I use a long flat head screwdriver to push into that last air filter box
clip from under the fuse box and also pull the clip up with my other hand
to set it when closing the box. It is a lot easier than trying to set the
clip with both hands in the small clearance between the air filter box and
the fuse box like you see at 7:48.

steven schulz says:

What do you think of the newer four door Jeep? Father in-law got one…. I
have yet to decide if its worth a fuck until we go see if we can break it

Stevefrye6969 says:

just changed my belt on a 1998 Jeep Wrangler 6 cylinder. Boy was it easy.
Video helped, thanks.

vantagetes says:

@Fiend2011 However you did get the 1st comment…

gunnerM2M3 says:

Serpentine Belt worn out?

Graveltrucking says:

@robby844 I changed the belt out early in my trucks aswell you can’t trust
serp belts especially on diesels damn thing snaps you loose steering and
the brakes. No pushing the brake pedal down on hydroboost.

vantagetes says:

@Fiend2011 This is youtube! Full of faggots and armchair know it alls.

robby844 says:

@Graveltrucking hahahah yup. i just changed the belt on my 06 wrangler.
lucky i did. it was all cracked and had rocks pushed thru it. i didnt even
trust it to use as a spare (i usually keep the old one in the vehicle in
case the new one breaks)

robby844 says:

@Graveltrucking wow really 30 mins?

vantagetes says:

@riannorris there’s a tool to measure this, factory calls for 180-200lbs of
deflection. I push on it with my finger and when it’s tight enough not to
squeal but loose enough I can still get a little flex I call it good.

Fiend2011 says:

@vantagetes thanks for the cool info maybe you will be my supervisor in
about 2 years

Tax me I'm Canadian says:

those ratchet box end wrenches that have come out in the last 10 years are
pretty nice. I like the “Gearwrench” brand available at CdnTire better than
my Blue Point ones, just seem to be a better bite, better gear mesh, I like
the flat non-offset head not a huge tool nut but good tools are good tools

Graveltrucking says:

@robby844 I was surprised too, I have a 2006 F-450 6.0 I did one on a 2003
6.0 thought the 2006 should be the same. After trying I said screw this
went to Ford come back a hour later the service guy said the tech does so
many of them he can do it in 20-30 minutes.

Graveltrucking says:

Try a serp belt on a 6.0 Ford PSD I did one once it was a real bitch the
second truck I took to Ford it was money well spent the tech did it in 30
minutes. I like the gatorback belts they are quiet and last a long time.

robby844 says:

@vantagetes not to mention the one i test drove had no balls. needed a
calendar when you stepped on the gas and it took too long to down shift
into passing gear. the manual box is clunky

vantagetes says:

@godackgudalach1 Ohhh and there are plenty of things you can go and break
on those. To me I think they are a step in the wrong direction. Jeeps have
always been about simple, rugged, compact designs which is why the TJs (at
least the earlier model ones) are so awesome. The JKs are wider (granted
more stable on side hills) and longer which means they get hung up more.
Waaaaay more fancy electronics (no water for you) and the
lockers/abs/traction control hate lift kits. That and the tie rods.

vantagetes says:

@Fiend2011 Scroll up I already answered that one for you. Also you need to
answer: what are you interested in doing?

vantagetes says:

@robby844 that’s due to the fly by wire accelerator. The delay has
something to do with the traction control. You can buy a tuner to eliminate
that and change the shift points around but it sort of silly to pay all
that money for a vehicle and then have to buy another thing to make it
“right”. Oh the TCS hates lift kits too.

theoman69 says:

lovin the picture and picture…really shows ya how to get down in
there….cool way to do a video man.

robby844 says:

@Graveltrucking we had all 6.0’s in our fleet and we used to do them in
15-20. course the company i worked for wanted them changed every 25000 so
that they never had a chance to fail.

vantagetes says:

@TheMel6721 2.5 or 4.0L?

vantagetes says:

@Fiend2011 You won’t learn enough on a grader or excavator at school to
pass a tryout here. Big machines means we need big production to pay the
high overhead costs. It’s easier to get on a grader than a hoe however.
Most graders are just on haul roads so there’s room for learning. Hoes at
my company are all about production. I still firmly believe people should
save the $20,000 and just work their way up from scraper, packer or rock
truck. We hire off the street for those and train.

TheCelticHitman says:

I like the overhead camera view. Good stuff.

vantagetes says:

@theoman69 Thanks Theo, this was a bit of a test video to play with the
editing settings. I have a couple equipment ones like this coming up! Took
me almost 2 weeks (and many, many swear words) to get all the settings
correct!

Fiend2011 says:

@Fiend2011 and sorry for not seeing it i didnt check my email

mengle2004 says:

fasted wrench in the west

vantagetes says:

@NiftyTan Watch at 2:00

Eric jones says:

LOL @ 7:57 I’ll get that one later – I feel your pain with those clamps
brother

Fiend2011 says:

@vantagetes ya but lets not be gay here

idarkie1 says:

cant fucking see what your doing, but doing changing the belt on my jeep is
so much more easier since all i need is a 1/2 inch drive ratchet.

vantagetes says:

@69rd96 I think its a bit mis leading on there. He only has a 4 banger and
that fan shroud is a good foot or deeper than it is on a 6 cylinder model.
I will admit she’s a little cramped under the hood of my Rubicon. (Burnout)

Eric Romero says:

I just found out i wasted 4 hours trying to chang a belt when it should
only have taken 10 minutes. LOL thanks for the video

vantagetes says:

@Fiend2011 I have’t had any personal experience with them so it would be
unfair for me to comment. What are you interested in doing?

Matthew Lillie says:

Would you post a video on How to change a Water Pump?

Eric Knaub says:

Great vid – changing mine tonight – lol on the air box clamp you said you’d
get back to later – that ones a little bugger I think mine is still undone

Fiend2011 says:

im not going to say first but i will say 14th

robby844 says:

@vantagetes i hated the thing and we were looking at it for only like 45
minutes. the engine had rod knock as well and it rolled off the trailer
right as we pulled up in my 06. the original rotors on my 06 warped int
25000 miles.

69rd96 says:

Holy cramped quarters Batman, not a whole lot of room. I can see the entire
front axle on my ’11 Rubi, even room for a supercharger in there.

Caleb Scofield says:

Great video man. Super helpful and great quality. Keep them coming.
