My Jeep is a 2014 Wrangler JKU with a 3.6 Liter Engine, Changing the serpentine belt is not as easy as you may think. While most DIY belt replacement is easy this job requires you to remove the alternator or move it back enough to replace the belt. You should replace the serpentine belt when it’s damaged or cracked up.

Is there a torque spec on the 2 pulleys that were inspected and re-greased?

I love the common sense statement about our throw-away society. Just grease bearings when you can and get a few more years out of them for free! Clean and maintain your stuff and you will enjoy it more anyway. Thanks for the video!

Charlie Siempelkamp says:

Thanks for posting this video. I was putting an alternator in a 2018 JL Wrangler 3.6. It was different, but your video straightened me out on the tensioner and I was able to get the job done.

G Hernandez says:

Idler pulley was worn out and made my belt snap out of place while going down a hill in the middle of nowhere. Lost steering and my engine began to overheat. Thank God some hunters were in the area and they took me to AutoZone 20 miles away to get the only jk idler pulley available in town. Check your pulleys people I didn't know they wore out too.

MaddScientizt says:

Hey I have a question I just did the belt on my sisters car and the water pump pulley is stiff. Is that how it’s supposed to be? Or does it move when the engine is turned on. Please help she just spent $200 on new pulleys, belt, and belt tensioner

Granitewheeler says:

The alternator does not need to come out. Just the support bracket that is under it. That is the documented way in the factory manual.

Shane Gregory says:

I tried without pulling alternator and it’s more of a pain in the ass then just taking it off,

Rob Phillips says:

Instructional video very well done. Thank you.

Nicholas Baldwin says:

Thanks for this! Going to just pull and put some grease on those same pullies!

Dan Hambrick says:

That looks weird with the alternator mounted backwards…

cory8791 says:
