This is a very well done video. Step by step and very concise. Even explains little tips like leaving 1 bolt in the housing to help align it when putting it back on. Stuff like that may be obvious to mechanics that work on cars everyday, but not to those of us who work on cars once in a while. Awesome!
Update: so after my check engine light came on, I did confirm that the code was p0128. Thanks to this video, I replaced my thermostat. However, my check engine light remains on! Even after several separate 15 minute drives. Any ideas on what I need to do? Coolant temp runs at 208 or so.
Can't thank you enough for the video. My "engine" light has been on for four years in my 2012 Jeep Wrangler. When I had the code read a long time ago it said something about the thermostat. I finally got sick of it today and searched YouTube and found your video on how to change it. Fantastic instructions. Easiest thermostat I've ever replaced. Your video showed how to do it perfectly. Problem is – my engine light is still on. Will I need to go get it cleared or will it clear itself over time? If it doesn't then I guess I have some other problem. Any thoughts?

Nice job the stock clamps on the hose suck I bought a new one .. did you use your the bleeder on the Thermostat housing ?
I was driving back home last night from my parent's house (30 mile ride) and the Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) popped up. I googled it and learned how to get the code which is P0128. I just called my local Jeep dealership/auto shop and asked them what the cost to fix a code P0128 in a 2012 Jeep Wrangler was and they said "worse case scenario is that your thermostat needs to be replaced, and that would cost around $262 + tax. Does this sound about right or should I try and fix this myself? It doesn't seem that hard by your video and the part isn't too expensive either. Any feedback helps! Thanks 🙂
The temp of my Jeep Grand Cherokee 2013 kept rising, it went from normal about 180° to 215° and the heater blew cold air when so I figure its the thermostat, I hope its just this and not something else that will cost a lot of $$ to repair.. I went to auto zone to get this code checked and they gave me the thermostat but without the housing just the spring and other metal parts. Will it be okay if I just change that part and not the housing or is that awhile other issue that will happen?
