Thanks so much! We’ve got an ’02 and the belt just melted off. Glad I don’t
have to move/remove the alternator to put the belt on. You just saved me a
bunch of money. Much appreciated.

Celox Letum says:

This definately just saved me some money, called a shop to see how much it
would be to have them replace the belt even though i had my own replacement
one……was going to cost me damn near $100 XD fuck that noise. Highway
robbers the lot of them, thanks for this video.

Thank you for the video! My belt FELL off at a stop sign. I didn’t
realize it until I tried to turn the steering wheel, by then I was 2 miles
away and 1 block from home. I went back & found the belt with another
car. My 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee had a radiator hose leak spraying the
belt & pulleys and the slipperiness caused the belt to fly off. I washed
the belt and the pulleys and had to go buy a 15 MM socket and long breaker
drive socket wrench, but your video showed me how the tension pulley would
move and your tip about “leaving the top pulley until last” was PERFECT.
After I put my belt back on, I was able to drive to my Jeep dealer. Now
they are replacing the radiator hoses and flushing the radiator system for
me. They will check the serpentine belt, too. Your video saved me $135 on
a platform tow truck ($105 plus $4 per mile for 7+ miles).

I referenced this video while replacing my alternator. It was very helpful.
I also posted it in JEEP FORUM dot COM with short instructions on how to
replace the alternator.

DeathScouter says:

This isn’t a timing belt, it’s simply the Serpentine.

Pepin Nator says:

Great video, I subscribed. Question: Do I have to care about the sync
between the gears?

TheWMcrth says:

Thank you so much for making this video. You are a lifesaver! I changed my
alternator myself as you guided me through the process. I could not figure
out how to loosen the tension on the Serpentine belt. I was going to call
AAA and get the car towed to a service station to have it repaired. Well, I
decided to search the question on Youtube, and there you were! You
explained it slowly and walked me through the entire process. You saved me
so much money! THANK YOU!!!

Last Wish says:

Death Scouter please help!!! If I hear squealing coming from the belt, will
the squeal and noise go away if I replace it like in your video? Please
HELP. THANKS!

DeathScouter says:

Wow, so glad I could help you out. Keep that Jeep going!

John Wilks booth says:

Great Video, Thanks

Skarlet Martinez says:

Thank you so much for this video. It sure helped showing how to change the
belt.

cletustcrickenberger says:

The Serp belt on mine is loose, do you have any suggestions for tightening
it? or is that possible?

Angel Zhagui says:

thank you so much this video helps me.

DeathScouter says:

The tension arm is what keeps the belt tightened. If your belt is loose,
then you tension arm may be bad, the belt is stretched, or the wrong size
belt is on there now. Put a ratchet on the tension arm and pull it
clockwise. See if it pulls it back as you release. If there is tension,
then try a new belt. You can’t risk losing your belt as you’re driving.
Belts are only $23 and are so easy to change that its not worth the risk.

Pepin Nator says:

thanks, I always get confused with both of them
