Thank you for this!

How is it that no one else has had the problem of wheel Speed sensors which
won’t lift right out? I have tried this on both my X308s, and neither of
these cars could I get the wheel speed sensor out, without it seeming like
it is coming really close to breaking.

sam1174 says:

Not at all. The XKRs use 20 inch wheels. As long as the wheels/tires on all
4 corners have about the same circumference you won’t have a problem. Now
if you installed 17’s on the front with a 30 sidewall and 20’s on the back
with a 50 sidewall you’d have a problem. But if you use the same diameter
wheel all the way around it won’t be an issue. The ABS computer is just
looking to see that all 4 wheels are rolling at roughly the same speed. It
doesn’t have to be exact.

I appreciate the work you do videoing your maintenance and tech tips.

Jessie Indracusin says:

Just wanted to say, without any prior knowledge, I removed both front ones,
cleaned them and reinstalled in less than 30 minutes. Sure beats out the
dealership insisting I need to buy two new sensors at $300+ each and 1.5
hours of labor.

sam1174 says:

Glad this helped. It’s super-easy to do, and it will fix the traction
control problem most of the time.

@jdlorinser No problem! Glad I could help. If that doesn’t fix your problem
go to jaguar forums (It’s the top hit if you google “jaguar forums”.
youtube won’t let me post the link). Lots of useful advice over there.

Nice tips, you may have saved me over £300, as the ABS braking system is
working fine, but keep getting the ABS wearing light come on, no need to
change yet, but will need for the MOT, but will try this first. Wayne

i have a specific question about this model- well 1998 xk8. I was told that
if i went with larger wheels than the 17in stock, it would cause all types
of faults in the computer. I was recommended staying the same stock size
rim. is there a way around this computer issue? is it true?

i just bought a 2004 jaguar s type yesterday and today the “abs fault” and
“DSC not available” warning came on. what does this mean? Could you please
help me

Drew Porcello says:

Dealership says I need a new ABS control module, figured I’d try this
first, right? Thanks for the video.

ZenaBaywell says:

Thanks for the vid. Helps to at least have some idea what I’m looking for &
where it is. Cars are tough for us gals. I posted on the jaguar Forum that
I purchased new tires today. 5 miles later, I got the ABS warning light &
DSC fault light. I was thinking maybe they somehow dislodged a sensor
during installation. But looking at this vid, it doesn’t appear they would
be in contact with the sensors in changing the tire. Do u have any
thoughts? I did replace tires with higher load tires.

sam1174 says:

Probably the same thing; wheel speed sensor. The ones on the S-Type might
be a little different. I’m not sure. But Google “Jaguar Forum” and click on
the top hit below the ads (YouTube won’t let me post links). That’s a forum
where your question can definitely be answered. The people there are very
helpful.
