I’m sure this is too late for Zac but just in case anyone else his age bumps into this, yes your insurance is likely to be too high unless the car is in your parents name and insured by them. Either car is great, the newer the better. The XKR is a bit more complicated because of the forced induction system. And finally yes they are expensive to maintain. Parts are generally more pricey than say a Corvette, and if you can’t do the work yourself it gets very expensive.

Fantastic. Thanks for posting all your vids. While it is out why not just replace the whole shock though?

Thanks a lot for these videos, very helpful. I’m turning 16 and fixing to get a car and I found a 2005 Jaguar XKR and 2001 XK8, I was wondering if they’re reliable and if they take a lot of money to maintain? The XK8 was 59k miles and the XKR has 63k. I was wondering which to buy and if the insurance would be high. Both are convertibles and I like the XKR a bit more. Thanks so much!
