Restoring my 2003 Jaguar S-Type 4.2 V8 Sport. On day 120 of this rebuild (August 9, 2023), I start cleaning the corroded rear subframe mounting areas from rust, first on passenger side.

💡 About this Car Project
————————————————–
I purchased my 2003 Jaguar S-Type 4.2 V8 Sport used at around 50k miles, put another 100k miles on it, and it always served me well.
In 2013, some expensive repairs would have been necessary to pass the annual inspection mandatory here in Austria. I decided against investing money and instead went for another car, my 2007 Mercedes-Benz E500 4matic.

Nevertheless I kept the Jaguar and promised myself that some day I would attempt a full rebuild. The time had come on August 31, 2019. After my S-Type had been abandoned for over 6 years, I rented a garage and ever since try to work at least once a week on this car restoration project.
The disassembly/ rebuild is done by myself without any professional support. To sort of proof that a “paper pusher” (as I am) can achieve this alone, I decided against just uploading a compilation of the most exciting moments or interim results, but instead try to get the whole process on camera, although using time lapse to keep it more or less endurable for you, my viewers.
Once the project is accomplished (I sincerely hope, it will be one day…), this video series may serve as a blueprint for restoring a Jaguar S-Type on your own.

All the Parts & Tools I use for this Project are linked in the Video Description.

Peter from Australia says:

Removing those plastic clips is often easier, if you heat them up with a heat-gun first, because the heat makes the plastic more flexible again. And I see you are getting there regarding rust removal, but I would still (as last time) recommend those cheap little wire wheels for the drill. They come in different shapes – not just wheels – the other shape looks more like a paint-brush and those would come in handy for your little indents, where the wheel can't get access. I'd assume the wire wheels would make that job a lot easier and faster. What will you to for "painting" and when (you should not let the just cleaned surface "oxidate" again…? I assume you know cold-gal paints?
