Introducing my brothers newly acquired 3.8 Series 1 E Type jaguar from 1964

Another in the Steve’s amateur ( A MATE U R ) garage series of videos, this time introducing his brothers Series 1 3.8 E-Type Jaguar FHC. The garage door mechanism had broken and we needed to move the car out of the garage to repair the door. What better time to film it. The car , once described as the most beautiful in the world by Enzo Ferrari, looks fantastic having had thousands of hours of labour in restoration. The walk around video shows the original steering wheel and rebuilt 3.8 engine details, triple SU carburettors, the body was previously chemical dipped and stripped. Tony had owned an E Type before and enjoyed driving it across Europe but not before replacing & improved parts had been fitted. The series 1 bonnet looks very long by today’s standards, the IRS has been rebuilt and new exhaust fitted. We would think again before restoring as the dilemma is always, is it worth saving? Having watched old Top Gear- Jaguar E-Type the restoration project was undertaken. The FHC is not as desirable as the E Type roadster but they are more valuable. Ultimately we did manage to fix the up and over door.

I think Tony is going to need an engine rebuild. It smokes more than my Grandfather used to.
