I had an extended warranty so it was covered but I believe the service manager said it would have cost $700 to install. After seeing the pedal, anybody could do it so that minus whatever the labor charges were. This was at the Jag dealership so likely OEM so not sure if aftermarket gas pedals exist online.
Hope this helps.
I don’t remember. I found them on eBay. They had a 100% guarantee it would work. When it didn’t work, I sent it back to them and they sent it back. After it failed to resolve the issue again, they sent me a unit they took out of a functioning car. It failed as well. Pretty much told me it wasn’t the throttle body at that point.
The gas pedal was 1 whole unit. A few bolts were holding the assembly in place and a wire was unplugged. The new unit was bolted in its place and the wire reconnected. That was it.
I had done that several times. I even had the throttle body swapped out with another. It wasn’t the throttle body. It was the gas pedal. Once it was swapped out, no issues since with it.
It cost me $765 to have the dealership replace the gas pedal. The car has since had the transmission rebuilt but the gas pedal replacement has most definitely resolved the issue in this video.
We are having the same problem with our 2004 X-type. We replaced the throttle body and the car is still revving up to 2,000 rpm at idle. It is time to buy a Honda Accord as we have recently just discarded one European car with issues.
I had the TB cleaned by the dealership and that worked for a few days only. I had the TB replaced with one that was known to work and it didn’t help. I told the dealer to check the pedal because a guy at work had suggested it. The dealership agreed and replaced the pedal and whallah…. car has ran fine since. Hope this helps your case.

I got the part back for the first time from the rebuild company and put it in the car. The car still refused to start so I sent the part back to the rebuild company. Got the part back and put it in the car and this time it ran. Being reluctant to drive it anywhere far, I went up and down the street, turned the car on and off, and it still ran fine. That lasted for 1 day. The car has once again died and refused to start. The video above is what I plan to show the rebuild company.
Had the car towed initially to the dealership where they indicated the code thrown indicated a throttle body malfunction. They said I could replace it for $2,400 or they could clean it and flush the fuel system for $300 just to see if that fixes the issue. That worked for about 1 week, then the car went into “limp home” mode as I was pulling into the parking lot at work. Had the car towed home and took out the throttle body and sent it to a rebuild service I found on eBay.

My 2002 Jag is in fail safe mode. how did they determind that it was your gas pedal? Did you try cleaning your throtle body first?
Ended up being a faulty gas pedal. Go figure!
