Scotty, I know this isn’t the correct video, I am replacing a transmission
pan gasket on a 1994 Pontiac Transport 3.1 liter, my question is after I
drain the fluid, do I put the same fluid back in that I drained out ? my
fear is the transmission starting to slip once its all back together .

Scotty, On my 01 Maxima there is an Idle Air Controller on the bottom of
the throttle body. There was coolant in one of the Vacuum hoses that go to
it. Intake manifold gasket? I can’t think of anything else it could be.
Hey Scotty, I am changing mine this week on my 2010 dodge charger sxt
because the computer has a code stored saying throttle air high and I hear
a hissing sound coming from the back even when the AC is shut off…. I
just had my spark plugs changed recently at pep boys and they told me I
need a new gasket but didnt have one on stock and was in a rush.
Hey Scotty: Thank for all your help with my 88 Delta 88. I have an old Ford
Explorer and I changed the manifold and valve cover gaskets the other day.
I took the intake off to replace the gasket ,but I can’t seem to remember
where the vacuum hose from the intake goes connects to the motor. So my
question is where does the vacuum hose from the intake connect to the motor
on a 94 Ford Explorer? Thanks again Mr. Scotty!!

Replacing A Leaking Intake Manifold Gasket
Scotty, I know you said this is a normal job that normal tools will be
needed, BUT how do you get the two center bolts out of the BACK of the
upper manifold on a 2001 Ford F150 XL with the 6 Cyl, 4.2 L engine. I’ve
tried ever possible combination of sockets and flex-adaptors, and cannot
get anything to work. I can barely touch the two bolts with my finger tips.
Is there a rubber plug under the plenum grill that gives access from above
the firewall?

Would you tell me what kind of product I can used to hold the gasket on the

Scotty, thanks for this and all your other videos, I have a quick question
if i may. I have a 96 Ford Windstar 3.8 that has a constant misfire on #5
(flashing CEL). I will also on occasion get a lean on bank 2 code. I know
that the Windstar had several gasket problems both with the intake and head
gaskets. I’m wondering if my misfire might be due to a bad intake gasket.
When I open the hood I can hear a leak, but can’t track it down using carb
cleaner or anything like that. The plugs and wires are all brand new, fuel
injectors and the coils all test fine. I was thinking of replacing the
intake gasket and probably cleaning out the egr ports since I’ve read that
those can clog and cause misfire problems. Do you think I’m in the right
area? Or should I be looking somewhere else? Thanks in advance for any
advice you can offer.

Hi Scotty. I really love watching your videos and just subscribed to your
page. I like looking at this stuff, you always make everything look so
easy, but this looks like wayyy to much work for me to attempt. My truck
is in the shop for this same problem (lower intake gasket I believe the
mechanic called it); it was leaking oil and anti-freeze. I have a 98
Silverado that is the love of my life. I’m hoping that by watching some of
your videos I can do some of the more simple stuff myself. Thanks for the

You just did the plenum gaskets not the lower intake gaskets. What a hack
you are. And the jackass below with no heat check your coolant level
dickhead. Check your heater core hoses see if they are hot.

Very nice! I’m about to put a new intake gasket on my 94 Mustang, 3.8 liter
V6, just ordered the part, but the picture only shows one gasket, which is
metal. Not sure what else there may be to it, guess I will find out soon!

gasket yesterday and it still has a vacuum leak in the same place?! What
could I have done wrong? It’s odd that the very same place has the leak and
not anywhere else???

Hey Scotty, would a bad lower intake manifold on my 97 Ranger 3.0L have
anything to do with my ‘no heat’ in the cab situation. Shop said there is a
broken bolt so they couldn’t take off to get to t stat. Can a bad manifold
lead to a ‘no heat’ problem? Usually thought it was a heater core, broken
blend door that leads to heating problems. And nobody makes lower intake
manifolds anymore, have to find it in a junkyard

Hi +Scotty Kilmer , I just sent my car to a mechanic to replace the
cylinder head gasket. It should be fine. But, my radiator smells like gas,
and constantly losing water. When I checked the engine oil, it’s already
mixed with water (again). I think the head still fine, it did not overheat.
Is it possible that a leaking intake manifold is the culprit? If this would
help, I checked with ODBII, it says an error with MAF. Your reply would be
a big help. Thanks!
How hard is it to do a 1991 Toyota Tercel Intake job? Also… don’t you
have to wait several hours before you put the coolant back in?

creating vacuum leak the estimate was $290.00 does this sound correct

!, do you know any trick to do so ?, the bolt is the one with the pin to
hold the spark plugs wires, I can’t fit a wrench nor a socket it’s driving

Hello scotty I have a 00 crown vic with a misfire on cylinder 1 2 and 3
because of coolant covered spark plugs. I have determined that I dont have
a blown head gasket and I was told I need to replace the intake manifold or
the heater hose or something like that. Could you please tell me if I just
need to replace the intake gaskets or what? I am in school to be a mechanic
but I have never done a job this big. Think I can do it?
Same truck and engine, but an upper manifold bolt is just spinning, I

Car revs from 1200 to 2500 rpm.
Now it goes right to 5000 and stays there! I have to fight the car to
stop!!!
Seems to be a common problem with these cars.
Been told everything from IAC, TPS, MAP or vacuum leak.
My head is full and my wallet is empty.
Any suggestions?

Hey Scotty, I have the exact same 4.2L V6 F-150 that you used in this
video. I replaced the Cam position sensor and crank position sensor
recently. Since then I keep getting the P1339 code. Do i need to go to the
dealer to get this stuff relearned or as you say find a mechanic with a
dealer level scan tool?? Thanks for the help!

eyes didn’t deceive me that looked like my engine. I was sweating this job
but now I have no worries.

great vid! im having this done to my mustang and its going to cost me $400+
for the labor of just taking it off…if they find the source of the leak
and replace the gaskets its gonna cost me even more…did I get ripped off?
