you do know that blue moon is a twist top don’t you ?
Good video.
Only thing I do differently is to write the date and mileage on the filter
after installation but before fender well installation. This way it can be
put where it can be seen from above in the engine compartment. Replaced
many of these and your video is spot on.
Loved the video,,,I have a Duramax and get it changed at the garage,, was
wondering why you didn’t want to fill the fuel filter pre installation, and
yet we pump it up,, you said we didn’t want to damage the injectors,,,don’t
understand the difference Thanks again for the nice Video
This was a great video and I have been working on Duramax and these engines
were not made to be worked on LOL. I am glad you said not to fill the
filter full of fuel, big mistake on a diesel… I had to put in a new
reluctor ring on the crankshaft at 37,338 miles and it is no easy job
considering I had the timing cover off, removed the flywheel to get two
bolts out of the upper oil pan.
Don’t a wix, as they are a real pile of crap. Have been reading post that
have the same problems I’ve ran into with that brand. You have to purposely
over tighten the to make them seal…
I did exactly what you did and it worked!
i was going to buy a duramax but now i dont think so. im not whining but i
think my cummins is easier to maintain and fix
Thanks for info, service manual hAs fuel lines being taken off, WTF, I’ll
do it your way.
blue moon !
@CactusBobsPlace Then get diesel on your hands, no one here gives a shit.
Dude posts a good video on how to change the filter and you thank him by
being a dick head.
Great video! Thanks for making it!
No offense but why in the World would anyone do it this way even the first
time? The filter sits near the top of the engine and is easily accessible
(5min to change). And you won’t have to destroy those expensive fasteners
(plus the time, fuel and aggrivation you will spend trying to find the same
size/style) with no fender well panel in place. I just don’t get why he
showed the hardest way instead of the easiest (and cheapest).
awesome tutorial thanks
Duramax is the best, I won’t have anything else on my farm. Thanks for the
great video!
nice video….keep them coming. Ignore dumb ppl…..
Great video! Very helpful.
Great Video. I am glad to see that you did not have a orange slice in your
Blue Moon beverage. I would have to ask if you were wearing a thing 🙂
Thank you!! I did replace my fuel filter but did not START until I bleed
the air with the button..Gracias Amigo
I could have…. 🙂
thanx dude
Outstanding, Just saved me some cash. Thanks
Excellent HOW TO video, clear and easy to follow. Please post more for the
Duramax. Thanks a million!
Outstanding thanks!
Tim, you rock. Done. Thanks, Betsy
This video helped a lot! Instead of removing the fender well cover, I
removed the battery and that gave me enough room to work from the top. Many
of the new filters are black with a glass liner, so writing the info on the
housing is not an option in this case. Thanks for the tip on NOT prefilling
the filter – priming was sufficient. I also opened the fuel cap so the
system could be purged of air. Job well done! Thanks.
Thank you for the clear, accurate instructions.
Sorry don’t buy a Wix filter…
Make sure to wear gloves to keep diesel fuel off your hands . Then take
them off to dip the o rings in the diesel ( make sure to get some diesel on
your hands ) . Are you sure you did not test the bottle opener a few times
before making this video?
Iv been told that the WIF sensor accuracy itself isnt reliable. Just get a
WIF delete plug.
Great video but now how do I clear the light on my dash that says change
fuel filter?
Going to be ordering that wrench. What other years of GMC’s with a Duramax
will it work on?
Ford’s 7.3 was pretty epic
I even cracked open a beer too !!
