What’s the difference is disconnecting the positive or negative battery
cable? Also, what are symptoms of bad solenoid? I’ve got a 2002 Rodeo.
Plenty of juice, but a couple of loud clicks when I try to crank it. Not
the “little” clicks that sound like a starter. Thanks!

Great video. Thanks for doing these. My starter is out and I didn’t even
know where it was located, let alone how to fix it. Your videos are very
informative. Thanks again!

TeamNinjistik says:

Hey dummy, it is called the starter RELAY. The starter solenoid is attached
to the start motor, which is under the car. At least on the ’94 ford truck
he is working on.

landoix2 says:

Not all starter solenoids are actually located on the starter :

Tacos Buenos says:

sooo in the event of, say, a nuclear EMP attack that devastates 3/4 of
america, would changing the solenoid fix my car? hahah i saw it in War of
the Worlds…. just wondering if its true or if its hollywood
over-simplification.

jessicarabbit2010 says:

you have picked the easiest possible example not very helpful

Tarek saber says:

RELAY not Solenoid , the starter solenoid is attached to the starter motor
which engaged with the flywheel

I dont think he knows the function of a solenoid.

Jaguar678448 says:

What do you do if you remove the solenoid and replace it but forget where
the wires go? I forgot where they go and gave up and just hooked it back up
and it started but the amp light was on. I drove about 10 miles and parked
it cuz it seemed to be acting really funny and turned it off. I attempted
starting it again and this time it just kept turning over and I pulled the
key out and it still wouldn’t stop turning over so I disconected the
positive cable. Is that bad?

OnCallParty says:

Awesome close-up angles of his hand!! NOW i know what to do.

timmie124 says:

isn’t that a relay -_-

John Smith says:

i got the same thing possibly the ignition switch, i’ll check it out today

Jaguar678448 says:

What happens if you hook everything back up to the solenoid wrong? I forgot
where the wires came from so I just sort of put some on one and some on the
other. Car started up but now it’s gone nutts!

krookedsb23 says:

Nathan please help! I just changed my starter solenoid. It started good and
everything 3 times. Til now. I turned the ignition, heard a pop, I removed
my keys from the ignition, and it was still cranking! So I had to
disconnect the negative cable to make it stop. So now, yea pretty much you
can turn on the truck without the keys in the ignition, just have to
connect the battery for it to crank. What do I do!?!?! What’s wrong?!

RC60618 says:

it is a 14mm, not SAE,
