Thanks for the tip! I’ll have to give that a try next time.
Mark – I normally turn the screwdriver handle while whacking the screwdriver with the hammer and continue to do that until the screw comes loose. That is before you strip them. I do that with all screws that are tight.
Thanks for the Great tip! That thing was a pain to get off!
Hey Mark, thanks for the vid. At about 11:08 into the vid, you are trying to get off the upper control arm but had some spacing issues with your breaker bar. Since they are usually 3/4 inch sockets they are a bit bigger than 1/2 sockets, a trick I have found is to use a normal 1/2 in socket with a steel pipe placed over it. Boom, instant 1/2 inch breaker bar. I suggest doing this with only warrantied wratchet such as Craftsman as it may break.
You are the second person to suggest this so I’ll have to try it the next time I’m dealing with stripped out screw heads. Thanks for the advice!
take a Philips driver end and whack it a couple times with a hammer on each of those screws you stripped out and they should come out with ease. just saying, nice vid.
thanks for the video very helpful in helping me replace my friend’s 95 isuzu rodeo.
at 6:45 to avoid stripping the screw, either use an impact screwdriver or a Phillip screwdriver and a hammer, hit the screwdriver with a hammer and turn the screwdriver.
LOL I don’t know about that. But thanks for the encouragement:-)
nice … very good performance !
Sounds like the same problem. Good Luck on the repair. I think you’ll be fine, I’ve put a couple thousand miles on my Rodeo now since the repair and it’s performing great.
Thanks for the comment!
Excellent video man! I’m not sure if I’m having the same problem because I took my Rodeo yesterday for some mud playing and it seems the direction got damaged. I make a turn and it makes clanky noises and you can feel on the wheel some movement every time it clanks. I was looking for something like this to get and idea what can it be, probably I’ll do the work myself also. Again great video and also great that you are a DIYr.
Cheers!
Glad I could help out. Good luck on your repair and let me know how it turns out.
