Brilliant ! Thanks for posting this. I bought my 2001 Skyline 300GT in 2007. The throttle chamber was replaced by a Nissan dealer under the second-hand car warranty that it was sold with. Now the warm start probelms have started again, I had it at the dealer here in Japan today and they say “throttle chamber. USD900 for the part, total USD1,400”. I shouted at them and brought the car home.

Hows your fuel economy in terms of mpg? My ’07 sedan is only getting about 15 mpg and thats with conservative driving.

dear blackmist212 !! I have Toyota yaris 2006 and i do have the same electronic throttle and i have cleaned with the carb cleaner nothing happened !! in the begining of start the rpm was high but after driving about 10 miles it became normal!!! Its up to you i am just saying !!!

Finally an answer. (^.^)
I believe you. That’s what my mechanic said. but I needed to make sure.
Thanx.

Gonzalo Hernandez says:

If you cleaning the throttle the idle will stuck high, in order to fix the problem you need take to vehicle to the Nissan dealer to replace the throttle and perform an idle relearn procedure. This is the sad reality. It is better do not clean the throttle. If do not belive me, try it.

blackmist212 says:

Thanx dude
I’ll try to find one
Many times I tried to save few bucks fixing stuff myself. At the end I spent a lot fixing my mistakes.
So better be careful

Chuck Norris says:

You should not have any issues if you do not move the butterfly valve inside the throttle body. If you do however have any idle issues, you can perform an idle relearn procedure using Nissan’s Consult scan tool. You should be able to find this tool in a lot of independent shops, not just the dealer.

I have 2008 altima
I want to clean my throttle body but I’m afraid that the idle will stuck at high rpm, since it is an electronic throttle body
my mechanic said you will need to reset PCM memory using a scan tool (I don’t want to go to the dealer)
did any of that happen?

Chuck Norris says:

Sorry forgot to mention, it’s a 2008 (VQ35HR).

Austin Madore says:

what year is it?

Chuck Norris says:

You basically clean out all the accumulated carbon build up behind the butterfly valves. That build up over time becomes excessive and causes inconsistent idle and warm start up issues.

i’m on driver and was wondering what exactly are the benefits of cleaning the tb besides keeping it clean?
