(04 G35x 92k) wow that make me feel alot better now ….. i will do the set
up next weekend….. i was one thousand mile into my oil change and i know
the oil level was at the L mark….. and also this is my very first
Nissan/infiniti products ….. some what disappointment compare to my
second Gen acura TL….. glad to see your make it next to 200k mile …..
Found an oil leak. Oil cooler gaseket. cheap and easy to fix. So to all
other G drivers at 288k miles.. something to look for.
What is happening today, one year later? Please reply to wechslerl@aol.com
For me* it got* Lack of proof reading at its finest.. plus its late. But gl
and lmk how yours turns out. You could possibly get away with just breather
filters on both valve covers but if any oil does push past it can lead to a
small mess.. but it is the cheapest test to run and the little filters are
available anywhere.. just a thought.. try it first.. if your issue is
solved add the can set up later for added security.
How is the oil issue one year later?? Please reply with video to
wechslerl@aol.com
“when i say i beat on it I MEAN I BEAT ON IT” lol love it
The sputtering problem that is..
Sounds like a leaky injector. Under this condition when the car is sitting
the injector is leaking fuel into the cylinder and is pooling up. When you
go to start there is extra fuel that it needs to burn off. This is the
reason for the momentary hard start and sputtering. Hope this helps.
200K miles and still considering FI. I love Infiniti, especially after
almost switching to a BMW and really learning how reliable they are in
comparison.
(03 350z 127k) I nptoced that after heavy throttle ill blow some whitish
smoke out the exhaust. Oil pressure sensor wont go above 60psI. Afyer fresh
oil change, oil pressure ia fine but atill consuming oil after driving like
a boss. You believe this will work for my situation?
OK so cap off intake and cap off the part from Plenum that went to pcv and
then connect the oil breather tank to the back side of valve cover and
pcv??? Hoping this REALLY works going to hook this up next week…thanks
Hey aint any point in creeping around testing it out.. i figure beat the
fuck out of it and see if he really worked.. a real damn test was done and
showed that it works lol
I did. think its water/condensation getting in the crankcase
I have done more searching and was wondering why a vented or filter on top
is necessary or what is the purpose vs. A non vented thanks again
What did you do for the hose that went to the PVC… just block it?? I’m
talking about the one from the plenum. Just block it off?? Thanks
@b350gtG yes i just capped it off.
I too have had water come out of the catch can. Mine is vented too.

rickmack22: this makes so much sense! thanks!! James Pak: I too have an 06
Z (63k) with pretty bad consumption issues. I plan to do this soon, have
you had the chance to give it a try?
Any way you can throw together a list of what you bought from Jegs? I’m
interested in giving this a shot.
What is happening today- one year later????
You did it correct it sounds like.. if you are still using that much oil
you should check your compression for starters.. mine was perfect 180-186
across with the car warmed up and everything.. does your car smoke at all
in the mornings when you start it? Like a little puff? Mine still uses oil
but only when i beat the hell out of it and i have experienced it.with
almost every kind of car.. cars do use oil.. just not as much as you are..
@tbagged23 yea just send me a private message with your email and ill send
you some pics and info on what i have.
The can has no line under it. Its pretty damn long and due to the fact its
vented i have yet to get any oil built up in it.. not even a drop.. if you
get oil in a set up like this something is really wrong lol.. with a sealed
until you will get oil build up along with burning crank case vapors and
some of the oil due to vacuum.. this one holds no pressure or vac so i have
no build up.. and i just ended up using vacuum caps to seal the old holes.
Rickmack22, I had an oil catch can installed before I saw your video for
3000 miles now, I just checked and my can is filled to the top of foamy
water oil mix. 95% water. It didnt seem to stop my oil consumption issue.
1qt per 3000 mi. My car does sputter and smoke for 1sec on startup after
sitting for a while but never after that. Runs great. its at 285k miles
right now im not complaining. maybe I should try a vented can.
Nice setup wat did use to cap mani an intake tube holes an is there a line
to drain can underneath can
@b350gtg yea thats it.. like i said i had a ton of oil going into the
intake manifold from the from pvc valve.. having this set up stops all
that.. they say the main issue is the rings but its hard to say.. again
this worked for my.. it go rid of 80-90% of my usage.
@N8digity08VQ its a jegs catch can.. you can find them on their site.. but
this can is a tight fit to the point i would not recommend it to anyone who
gets easily pissed off… if your looking to simply try it just get a
VENTED catch can off ebay and use black rubber hose to connect the valve
covers to it.. it will have the same function for a 1/4 of the price and be
all of a 30 minute or less install.. if it solves your issue upgrade later
What’s the link for the catch can you bought. I might Ned to give this a
shot before I replace the motor.
Hey Rickmack22 can you email me the part numbers for your whole set up
hoses and all Cause i have the oil prob and im sick of spending money on
oil as well.
U think u can send me specs tryin to the same setup as you really
interested in doing same
All the VQ motors seem to use oil in general. Pull your PCV line and see if
it has a ton of oil in it.. mine had enough it was dripping when i pulled
it off and my intake manifold was coated with oil.. for an example of how
bad a pcv system can coat the manifold go to my other youtube.. the names
omgitsmrmack i have a video installing a catch can on a charger.. look at
the manifold that came off it.. car has 30k and the intake ports are full
of carbon and crap from it.
It worked*
@rickmack22 have you had any issues with the car since adding the catch
can? Specifically have you noticed any gas/oil smells from the cabin or
excessive crankcase pressure causing seals to blow out? I have a 06 Z and
I’ve been dumping tons of oil in the car since I bought it new. So if this
resolved the problem without any consequences I’ll be extremely happy.
Was wondering. If anyone who did this has noticed any milky residue around
the filler cap..
its just condensation from hot air moving through the can. My car runs
fine. I tried removing the cap off my can… found that it idles poorly
(vacuum leak). Both our cans offer the same functionality, mine still
consumes oil. Hows yours?
Whoa.. yea you shouldn’t have water in that thing at all.. thats crazy!!!
Try a vented!
@350gtskylin check my other YouTube.. i made another better video i think..
it at least explains mine and my situation more.. the YouTube name is
Omgitsmrmack
Hey man i was wondering if you got my message i sent you about a week ago?
how bad was your consumption problem??? i did a oil change (added 5 qts of
fully synthetic mobile1) and 1200 miles later the oil light came on during
hard braking, within 100 miles i started hearing the rattling noise on
start ups. did your G have this problem?
