You are very good. About how much would this cost if I took my Maxima into the shop?

KTray2030 says:

This video help a lot on replacing the starter but, I have one question about the starter terminal. I put the terminal on the starter, washer and nut. Then the other end of that same line was loose and disconnected. Where’s the other end go on that same line? I appreciate the help.

CarsNToys says:

Sounds like the reman starter gear wasn’t engaging the flywheel. Glad it worked out. Cheers!

I took back the re-manufactured starter and it failed on his bench. I bought a brand new starter. Installed it, and it works like a champ.
Lesson learned: Pay a few dollars more from the git go and save yourself from a headache and a waste of time with re-manufactured crap!
Thanks for your help!

dLimboStick says:

So I replaced the starter with a re-manufactured one, and I get the same symptom. The starter whirs, but does not engage. I thought the battery might be bad so I used a Diehard Power pack that showed 13.8V and still same problem. It’s a manual trans, and I can push start easily. Any ideas?

CarsNToys says:

Glad to help, dL. Cheers

dLimboStick says:

Excellent! You can’t ask for a better demonstration then that!

AutoZone has Maxima starters for $115-$150 brand new w/ Nationwide warranty. If a reco guy is at $40-60, I would consider it, but not for 90% of a new unit with warranty.
