Hi Mark. I’ll post two diagrams on my Pinterest page – under Schematics. The diagrams show where the sensors are located and how to perform an ohm reading to verify if the sensors are no longer in working order. (I’ll try to shoot a video this afternoon showing how to perform and ohm test.)

Mark El-Deiry says:

Great video! This is a great help! I have a 2002 Maxima – is the “bank 1, sensor 1” O2 sensor in the same place on the manifold plug and on the exhaust or do I need to look somewhere else?

(I got the p0031 error code from an AutoZone reading)

I also got the p0051 error code which is “bank 2, sensor 1”. Would that be replaced the same way? And do you know where it is located?

Any help you can provide would be great! Thanks!!

What year is your I30?

Joann H says:

Hey do you have a video showing replacement for a starter for Infiniti I 30?

CarsNToys says:

I’m sorry for the late reply, Tawny. I’ve been away the last few days. If you haven’t resolved your problem, bank 1 means rear of the engine compartment and front oxygen sensor means right bank. It’s the same oxygen sensor replaced in this video. Cheers.

Tawny Mathi says:

Hi,

Awesome video! My car (97 Maxima SE) didn’t pass because I need to replace the Bank 1 Front O2 sensor? I’ve been trying to find the part and most of them are labeled “upstream” or “downstream.” Do you know which one I need? Thanks again!

CarsNToys says:

HI Jo Rey. The scanner usually includes a booklet showing the codes. Otherwise, you can ‘google’ the code and find the results.

Jo Rey says:

Could you tell me where i could get the book with the codes, i recently bought a obd2 scanner and i am looking to buy a 2000-2003 maxima.

CarsNToys says:

Hi Jetblk69. Code 140 is sensor 2 which is the o2 sensor after the catalytic converter. Code 153 is the o2 sensor located on the front pipe. It’s essentially the first o2 sensor on your car starting from the front. If you’re unsure where to look, send me a private message with your email and I’ll send a document showing where the sensors are plugged in. You could unplug the sensors and follow to the right 02 sensor.

I have an 01 Nissan Maxima tried to get inspection fault codes P0140 Bank 1 Sensor 2
P0153 Bank 2 Sensor 1 where are these sensors located?

CarsNToys says:

Glad to help

Great vid thanks. Very informative.

Thanks for the information. It is 2001 Nissan Maxima w/ 71K miles. Previous owner didn’t drive it much. Do you know of a good website where I can buy this oxygen sensor relatively cheap? So far, I have had to change the speed sensor and the air mass inflow sensor. It is an old car so I might as well change this oxygen sensor.

I have been hearing a weh weh noise after completing a drive or starting the computer up. I don’t know if it has to do with the oxygen sensor.

CarsNToys says:

Hey Kenneth. P0160 is the oxygen sensor after the three-way catalytic converter. (Bank 2) What year is your Maxima? I can email you a schematic showing where the sensor is located. It mostly likely is a bad sensor. Code 0160 can also appear if water has entered the harness connector or if there’s a hole in the exhaust. You can check the oxygen sensor as well, however, that involves doing an ohm reading or voltage check. I plan on uploading a video next week showing how to perform an ohm test.

kentennis says:

I recently had my car checked at Autozone for a service engine light. The code came up as P0160. Can you elaborate what the problem is? Should I replace the oxygen sensor with a new one? Thanks.

components. That Thermagasket worked great after the second half of the treatment btw. For $138 good deal. I know its a temp fix.
Great car,nice body fantastic engine!
No problems until now, take care of a Japanese car it will treat you well.
Later Cars,,,keep the videos coming! Us neophytes learn something!

neilzep says:

Got ya Cars. funny thing is I got that code last summer and had it changed by my ‘trusty’ mechanic. COUGH.
Me be taking it back to him,I have a feeling he used one of those check knockoff sensor’s they sell on ebay. Got to stick to Nissan or OEM folks. I will get the ohm meter need to check my injectors as well.
This car has been great to me for 12.5 years, but I blew a headgasket last summer and used Steel seal twice and Thermagasket last month. Those chemicals are not good for the sensitive

CarsNToys says:

Hi Neilzep. Code 0135 is a sensor heater circuit malfunction for bank 1, sensor 1. It’s the same exact sensor shown in this video. You can do a simple ohm reading (with a multimeter) to verify the 02 sensor needs replacement. Search online for the factory repair manual. You want to find the engine control (EC) section, page 149.

neilzep says:

0135 is the sensor in the front..near the fans?
like your videos carsntoys.
I got a 99 with 238K,keeping it alive!!!

CarsNToys says:

Do you have any other codes besides the oxygen sensor?

quenshawn says:

i replaced my MAF sensor and the car still does not accelerate like its suppose to and all my spark plugs are replaced along with the TPS sensor and Knock sensor . could it be the O2 sensors cause it is throwing the codes for them and could it also be a bad engine harness ? and I noticed that the car accelerates fine when it is cold but when it heat up there is a power loss in acceleration
