to have to fight seasickness from a shaky camera!

Haha! I watched this video for a laugh a couple weeks ago, and thought
yeah, that’s a good video, I like his approach…. Yesterday I waxed my
truck, and I see one of my rear lights is full of water, d%$#it….. So,
suddenly I’m paying a LOT more attention! Thank you Chris.

sully Diaz says:

Wow this video is so detailed I love it thanks for the video God bless you!

Kevin N says:

Honestly, why just seal the bottom? Why not just do the entire assembly to
prevent any moisture issues in the future?

bmwmsport11 says:

Anybody know if you can remove condensation with the housing still on the
vehicle?

My bolts are rusted and can’t be removed. I have a hair dryer and vacuum.
It won’t be another 4-5 months until I see warmer weather.

Charles Georgoudis says:

Good job, Chris. I really liked your heat gun set up with the box. I’m sure
that you kept a lot of people from ruining their headlight assemblies by
showing us your drying method. Your camera work is really good and it’s not
as easy as some think. Thanks.

grassroot011 says:

Good vid, a better sealer to use would be RTV, and is more weather
resistant.
RTV means room temperature vulcanizing.

squid boy says:

I touched the lightbulb…

Kevin Hackman says:

I have a BMW e39 with this issue in one light and will be giving this a try
soon. My headlights are more tricky to remove unfortunately!
Hence I may try and just put a couple of drain holes in the light if I can,
I can always seal the holes up if that doesn’t work and seal around the
light too.

Cory Christiansen says:

Wow you’re awesome 🙂 I know you can’t be single haha your voice is so
soothing.. And you take pride in your work.. Cheers man

Matt Bartholomew says:

Very nice video, fortunately for my Volvo the lens is held onto the
assembly by clips so can be easily removed so didn’t even need a heat gun
to dry out the inside just needed to replace the rubber seal and job done
why don’t they make headlights like this anymore..

Jorge felix says:

This is a nice job , but what I did was make an orifice at the bottom the
headlight and that it , the light never get condensation again , thank .

AnythingLoud says:

You can touch the light bulb, these are halogen bulbs, which won’t
prematurely fail if you touch them. However, LED and HID bulbs will fail
prematurely if you touch them.

Jason Bilow says:

Good video! Yours is a 2001 right? I have a 2001 ranger edge and while the
lens look the same the latches are not, mine just pull up on 2 latches
kinda like yours but they are long and right at the top then it just slides
out. I just put in new lens I was lazy and didnt wanna fix my passenger
side lol but now I need to adjust them bad!

wm auto service says:

Elibeth Zamora says:

Thanks for the info.. Got work to do this weekend.

JohnLikesGuitars says:

Is there anyway to clean the inside of the headlight without tearing apart
the lens? On my 94 Ranger my headlights are a bit foggy on the inside. I
cleaned the outside the best I could but most of the corrosion and stuff is
on the inside. Or is this similar to that just putting water through the
hole in the back of the assembly?

lightningsmokerXx says:

Do you have to disconnect the battery when unplugging the headlight bulbs
from the harness?

Mr. Vega says:

My left headlight has had so much moisture over the years and it has
annoyed me. Great video. Going to try it.

Ryan Tettenburn says:

Excellent! My headlights do have water in them. This I will def try.

ff5gus says:

Good job, very well demonstrated. I may have the same problem with my 19
yr old vehicle and now I know I may be able to fix it myself instead of
having to replace the $140/ea headlight units, Thanks…

This is a very helpful video. Thank You

zx8401ztv says:

Smashing job and didnt cost an arm and a leg to fix :-))

I would imagine if you did touch the bulb you could wash it with meths or
the cleaner isopropic version, ive never seen anyone have a lightbulb
suffer early death due to hotspots forming on the dirty glass.

Perhaps a test is needed ha ha, bulb death, the facts lol.
