the belt tension gauge you mentioned is about 8 dollars from napa and is called the krikit gauge. they have one for serpentine and one for v belts. its nice to have.
Not very accurate way of doing the tension, usually u can use a torque wrench($20 at Walmart for a 20-80 ft-lb wrench). Good tutorial tho. Also works for older 350z’s since they use the same engine design.

Thanks for this video how-to. Excellent job and it will definitely help me with my wife’s car that I just bought and disovered that the belts are shot…which of course are not covered under warranty. Where did you get the belts? I wonder if the dealer part is any better than ones found at the local auto parts dealer? Please let us know.

Thank you very much for the video. Saved me much time. I have a 2008 M35 and was able to reach the alternator belt tensioner from above.
