In this video I show how I was able to install an Infinity Primus 6510CS component speaker system into my 1995 GMC Suburban. The install went great and I was able to use all the factory mounting locations to keep everything looking completely stock. There is some custom work involved but it certainly was rewarding. If you’ve been thinking about replacing your factory speakers with a component set this video may help you to see what’s involved.

Hey, this was a really great video for DYI and full of practical advice. Getting a new head unit will certainly change everything about the sound. I did this for a living and factory speakers are abominations. Getting even modestly priced speakers is a big boost in quality and I think you did a great service to anyone thinking of upgrading. May you always love your new sound and love the fact that you did it yourself.
NVX, Deaf Bonce, DC Audio, and B2 in my opinion have better mids. Brands like Infinity, RF, Focal, JBL GTO series they lack midbass. Dont put crossovers or relays on or in the door. Taking a chance in water shorting them out. This is NOT the right way.
good explanations. Great video
Is Pioneer component speakers better or JBL?
So no amplifier? I’ve been trying to find a good install video of components with an amplifier.
за океаном звук оценивают по внешнему виду изделия )
How would you connect them to an aftermarket amp?
I could be very wrong- you’re truck I believe is 4ohm and the infinity series you got are 2.7ohms. I don’t doubt they sound great tho-
But when u put ur new head unit that is likely 4ohm- u will then see the problem.. good luck
thx, i mssing this on previous instalation .good job
Lol old speakers are coffee filter cones
Where did you get the mount brackets ?
If you're on a tight budget, you could use the paper plates from your kitchen as cone material. Probably sounds better than those factory ones.
Why wouldn’t you show how to do the wiring that’s the only hard part
If you get a percentage from Amazon for getting these speakers sold, shouldn't you show the speakers working at the least?
I know that it is your SUV and you can do whatever you want. But anytime I see somebody modifying this old but nice rigs I feel sad. Maybe, because I live in Spain and as they are so old, to have here without problems you need to make them historical cars. What means that the car should be as factory in all the things, including sound system.
I have 4 factory wires going into my woofer, why is this?
That infinity speaker package on the Dodge you liked so much unfortunately didn't age well, that's why I'm here looking for a better set up. It was better than the alternative back then but the infinity stuff that went into Chrysler vehicles was definitely not the same quality as their aftermarket. They did weird stuff like put mini amps on the back of the 6x9s in the front to power the rear speakers, and those failed.
The Infinity Gold system in my 94 jeep was garbage. Probably because it was already trashed when I bought it lol
Same speakers I installed in my 2004 civic but with a speaker silicone baffle from NVX the midbass is insane with a 4ch amp alpine amp f-300
