DIY: Infiniti G35 Power Window Reset Repair – 2003 Sedan

DIY: Infiniti G35 Power Window Reset Repair – 2003 Sedan

Problem: The front window driver side automatically re-opens a couple of inches down after using the auto-close option.
Solution
Tools: Panel remover, flat screwdriver, and Phillips screwdriver.
Note: 1 to 7 can be done in different order.
1. Remove or pry off the grip finisher.
2. Remove the 2 screws from the grip finisher.
3. Remove the mask on the door handle.
4. Remove the screw behind the door handle mask.
5. Pop out the 3 clips on each side of the door panel (left, bottom, and right).
6. Pop out the power window switch.
7. Disconnect the electric harness.
8. Pull up on the door panel to remove it from the door.
9. Disconnect the door light cable at the bottom of the door.
10. Set aside the door panel.

To reset the window motor:
1. Close/roll up the window. You may need to close the window inch by inch.
2. Peel off the sticker that hides the reset button of the power window motor.
3. Press the reset button while opening /rolling down the window. Don’t release the reset button while opening / rolling down the window. Do not use the auto-open option.
4. Release the reset button.
5. Close/roll up the window by lifting up on the button and holding this up position until the window closes.
6. Test the auto-close window option.
7. Test the auto-pinch mechanism of the window by using a soft obstacle (i.e. car sun visor, towel).
8. If the auto-close option reverses after detecting the soft obstacle, then test passed.
9. Done.
10. Reverse the directions on reinstalling the door panel (aka: door finisher).

Note – Correction: For G35 Coupes, you need to close and open the door when you reset the auto-close option. If you need help, let me know.
